New Caring Transitions Franchise Brings Comprehensive Relocation Services to Cedar Falls, Waterloo and Surrounding Iowa Communities

Cincinnati, Ohio (PRWEB) November 15, 2012 - As a military wife, Kerri Shimp learned first-hand about the rigors of sorting, packing and moving. As a counselor, she provided guidance and support to clients. With the launch of her new Caring Transitions franchise, Shimp is combining her skills and experience to benefit her fellow Northeast Iowa residents as they make transitions in their lives.

Hiring movers, sifting through belongings and boxing up the vestiges of a life – most dread the cumbersome process of moving and the inherent obstacles and difficulties. With the launch of her Caring Transitions relocation and estate sales franchise, Kerri Shimp is looking to simplify the process for her Iowa neighbors and turn it into a positive experience.

The mother of four and former military wife knows all too well the hassle of packing up boxes and uprooting a family. Generally her husband was transferred ahead of the family, leaving Shimp behind to see through the practicalities of the family’s relocation, she said.

“In a span of 15 years, we’ve moved eight times, so I’ve dealt with transition. I understand the stress and anxiety,” the Cedar Falls resident said. “I wish we had someone to come in and care about our things on a personal level. Movers are so impersonal.”

A certified behavioral analyst with a master’s degree in counseling, Shimp worked with soldiers transitioning out of the military. She also previously served as an adjunct instructor at a local college and continues to maintain her consulting business. But with her children growing older, she said she was searching for new opportunities, to essentially build her own company.

Shimp and her husband researched and explored businesses that meshed with her training and desire to help the senior population. Caring Transitions ultimately came to the forefront thanks to the franchise’s flexibility that allowed her to work from home, coupled with its low overhead and franchise support.

“Caring Transitions is just a good fit for me,” Shimp said. “I work well on my own, but also with others. I’m not afraid to network, to go out and speak to people and to let them know howI can help.

According to Ray Rofkar, director of operations for Caring Transitions, most franchisees have a deep-rooted desire to help people and are sensitive to the situations that customers are experiencing in their lives.

“The strength of Caring Transitions is that we can help with any or all phases of a transitional change,” he said. “We can handle all facets of a situation, or augment other providers to fill in gaps that they may not cover. We strive to give everyone a tailored, customized plan to deal with his or her unique situation.”

Caring Transitions franchise owners are backed by a variety of services designed to support their clients and provide a comprehensive solution to their challenges. Support services include a unique online selling platform, localized website template and support, reduced rates with national partners, online training modules, and a dedicated, professional corporate support team, Rofkar said.

Shimp is focused now on building on the Caring Transitions name in Northeast Iowa, working hand-in-hand with Realtors and networking with senior center representatives. With a scheduled ribbon-cutting this week, Shimp will be able to offer clients a full range of relocation services, she said, including online auctions, estate sales, and computer model floor plans. She’s already reaching out to seniors via luncheon seminars, describing exactly the type of services she can provide.

It’s not easy to leave the home one has lived in for 30 or 40 years, and the circumstances are even more challenging when family members are scattered across the country, Shimp said, noting that America’s aging population will undoubtedly produce many such scenarios. Above all, empathy and support are essential when working with the senior population as a relocation advocate, skills her counseling background allow her to draw upon.

“In talking to people, I see that there is a great need for this type of service,” she said. “People share stories with me of about how they wished that had this kind of help with their parents and others in their life.”
