Primrose Schools® Hires New Vice President of Education

Gloria Julius, Ed.D., Joins Leader in Educational Child Care

December 14, 2012 // Franchising.com // ATLANTA – Gloria Julius, Ed.D., has joined Primrose Schools, the nation’s Leader in Educational Child Care®, as Vice President of Education and Professional Development.

An innovative, results-oriented leader with more than 30 years of experience in education administration, Dr. Julius is recognized for employing a team approach that unites teachers, staff, parents and students around teaching and learning.

“Gloria shared with us her true passion is early childhood education,” said Jo Kirchner, President and CEO of Primrose Schools. “She has a strong belief in our balanced approach to early childhood education, and we’re thrilled to have her join Primrose to support our delivery of service excellence for thousands of children, parents and staff.”

Dr. Julius comes to Primrose after having served for five years as the Chief Learning Officer for Calvert Education Services LLC, a 100-year-old home schooling and virtual learning education provider. At Calvert, she created a professional learning community that developed research-based standards, aligned curriculum, professional development, and exceptional support for parents and students. She was instrumental in increasing the academic standards, teaching methodologies and delivery of high quality programs for students.

“Throughout my career, I’ve continuously seen that a quality early childhood education can make a profound difference in a child’s life – preparing them to be well-adjusted, happy and successful learners throughout their school years,” said Dr. Julius. “Joining the Primrose team is an amazing opportunity to help make that difference.”

Dr. Julius has a Doctorate of Educational Policy, Planning and Administration from the University of Maryland College Park, an M.Ed. in Education with a concentration in Curriculum Development and a B.S. in Elementary Education. Her prior certification from the state of Maryland includes Education Leadership, Superintendent, Principal, Early Childhood Education (birth to grade three) and Elementary and Middle School (grades 1-8). Prior to joining Calvert, Dr. Julius held extensive leadership roles in the public school sector.

In addition, Julius has a love of music and firmly believes that regular exposure to interactive musical activities is foundational to young children’s learning.

Dr. Julius fills the role of Dr. Mary Zurn, who is retiring after eight years with Primrose Schools and more than 40 years in early childhood education. Zurn will continue to play a role at Primrose Schools, serving on the Education Advisory Board and as an advisor to the Primrose Children’s Foundation.
