ColorTyme Looks to the Future, Honors the Past as it Opens 2013 National Convention

January 22, 2013 // Franchising.com // PLANO, Texas – ColorTyme, the nation's first franchisor of rent-to-own stores, opened its 2013 National Convention on Monday, January 21 in Frisco, Texas.

An audience of over 300 attendees including franchisees, vendors, managers and, for the first time, prospective franchisees, were present when President and CEO Cathy Skula made the announcement that ColorTyme and RimTyme currently had 227 stores system-wide, marking the highest store count since 2006.

"We are thrilled to gather together with our franchisees and vendor partners," said Skula. "It's an exciting time to be part of the ColorTyme/RimTyme system, and celebrating the successes of our franchisees is the highlight of the convention.”

The morning session included updates from the executive team, as well as the presentation of 114 awards for both ColorTyme and RimTyme locations, honoring those stores who achieved milestone performance numbers in 2012.

The company's founder, Willie Talley, was honored with an induction into the "Circle of Excellence," given to those individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to ColorTyme, during a special award presentation which included a video tribute. Talley's three children Barry, Kathy, and Ginger were all on hand to accept the award on behalf of their father, who passed away in 1995.

"Willie Talley's vision is the reason ColorTyme exists today," said Skula. "It is our great honor to present this award to his children."

Monday afternoon’s events included a vendor buying show which exhibited a wide range of products and services including furniture, electronics, appliances, wheels and tires.

"Our vendors have really stepped up this year with some great deals for our franchisees in attendance," said Debbie Romero, ColorTyme's Director of Purchasing. "This is just one of many ways they support our convention, and our company’s growth."

The vendors also donated a number of outstanding prizes for Monday evening's “Casino Night” event. Attendees will be treated to dinner and an evening of fun entertainment as they try their luck at a variety of casino games.
