Jamba Juice Makes Commitment to Heart Health

Eighty-one Local Bay Area Jamba Stores Participate in Fundraising Efforts to Raise Up to $1 Million in Support Of the American Heart Association

EMERYVILLE, Calif. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Jan. 23, 2013 - Jamba Juice Company (NASDAQ: JMBA), a leading healthy, active lifestyle brand, and the Greater Bay Area Division of the American Heart Association (AHA), are working together to raise funds and promote healthy lifestyles in the Bay Area.

The American Heart Association recommends eating oats and other whole-grain foods regularly as part of a balanced diet that is low in saturated and trans fats. In a show of support for healthy hearts, Jamba Juice will highlight its artisan oatmeal made with organic steel cut oats as a heart-healthy breakfast option in their Bay Area stores. Jamba Juice employees hope to raise at least $50,000 and, towards that effort, the Company has offered to make a $1 donation to the American Heart Association for every oatmeal purchased during the AHA special promotional period* at its 81 participating Bay Area stores. Jamba will also offer a “Whirl’d Heart™ Coupon Sheet” with a variety of in-store product discounts* for an additional donation of $1 to the American Heart Association.

“Jamba is committed to helping our fans and customers find simple, easy ways to eat healthier and stay more active through the products we offer and activities we sponsor,” stated James D. White, chairman, president, and CEO, Jamba Juice Company. “Partnering with the American Heart Association to promote critical initiatives, like heart health, is one way we show our commitment to inspiring and simplifying healthy living.”

In addition to its commitment to raise funds for healthy hearts, Jamba Juice will promote the American Heart Association’s Start Training half-marathon program in 14 of its Bay Area stores to help educate and prepare local customers and Jamba® team members for the Western Pacific Half Marathon in Fremont on May 4, 2013. Start Training is a 16-week fitness training and fundraising program offered by the American Heart Association to help individuals prepare for a safe and satisfying run/walk event.

James D. White, Jamba Juice Chairman, President, and CEO, has challenged a team of East Bay executives to raise $1 million for the East Bay Heart of Gold Ball. The Heart of Gold Ball raises funds to support the American Heart Association’s mission to build healthier lives free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke. Specifically, the gala creates awareness of congenital heart defects, the number one birth defect. The money raised at the gala funds AHA research, prevention efforts, advocacy and community outreach programs. Jamba Juice is a Platinum sponsor of the event, along with Pleasanton-based Ross Stores, Inc. The event will take place on May 18, 2013 at Wente Vineyards in Livermore.
