IKOR Signs Franchise Deals for Philadelphia and Northern Virginia/Washington, D.C.

New Offices Will Expand Healthcare Advocacy/Guardianship Network’s Presence in Pennsylvania and the Capital Region; Franchisees Sought To Open Additional Branches

March 07, 2013 // Franchising.com // KENNETT SQUARE, Pa. – IKOR, a growing network of healthcare advocacy and guardianship offices that help lawyers, bank officers and other fiduciaries manage the care of seniors and disabled clients, today announced that it has signed two new franchise agreements, one for Philadelphia and the other for Arlington County, Va., the City of Alexandria and the District of Columbia.

The Virginia/Washington, D.C., office will open this spring and will be operated by Alice Paxton, a Certified Senior Advisor and Program Management Professional who formerly provided program management and senior business analyst capabilities for the Gaithersburg, MD -based knowledge and IT management firm Knowledge Advantage Inc. Paxton also served in several consulting roles and held multiple positions interacting with the military. Hers will be the third IKOR branch in the Washington, D.C., area, joining those that opened in 2011 in Fairfax, Va., and Annapolis, Md. The Pennsylvania franchise will open later this year and will be operated by Patricia Maisano, founder and CEO of IKOR. It will be her second branch, preceded by the original office she opened in 2000 to serve Chester County, Pa and the state of Delaware.

“We’re very excited to have signed a deal for our third branch serving those in and around the nation’s capital,” said Cynthia Gartman, president of IKOR. “Alice brings great knowledge of the region, a strong business management background, and extensive experience that will be valuable to our work with veterans with physical and mental care needs. We expect her to be an asset to our clients and our system as her operation gets underway.”

Maisano becomes the third IKOR operator to expand to multiple branches. Her new office will be the fourth in Eastern Pennsylvania and the fifth branch statewide.

“I’m delighted to be joining our franchisees in Florida and Texas as a multi-unit operator,” she said. “I’m equally happy that our system continues to expand throughout Pennsylvania and the country, with more and more people realizing how critical a dedicated, authoritative voice can be in establishing and maintaining ideal care conditions.”

IKOR works with those needing care, their bankers and other fiduciaries, establishing programs to ensure optimal quality of life, maintain dignity and provide peace of mind. Trained professionals tackle such issues as: determining whether in-home care is viable and what provisions may be necessary; coordinating, attending and recording the outcome of medical appointments; securing a space in an appropriate facility when home care is not an option; confirming prescribed medicines and therapies are administered properly; providing support in cases of elder financial abuse and other “at-risk” situations; and much more. Each office also provides trained financial advocates to handle Power of Attorney authorizations, routine financial management and other non-medical services.

“Many families are struggling to provide proper care for aging and ailing seniors, and in our experience more than twice as many families are dealing with cases of physical or mental disabilities,” said Gartman. “IKOR is emerging as a versatile solution to the challenges these families face and a relief for the burden that too often falls to their fiduciary officials. Through our franchise program, we’re bringing that solution to more people in more regions of the country, providing both a business opportunity and a chance to make a difference.“

Now operating in Pennsylvania, Texas, Florida, Georgia, Virginia, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina and South Carolina, IKOR franchisees include pharmaceutical sales professionals, medical device professionals, lawyers, doctors, IT professionals, real estate and business brokers, language translators and others who possess a passion for helping others and the business acumen to succeed in the growing advocacy field. Franchisees receive initial and ongoing training, technology, personalized web pages and web optimization support, marketing and operational assistance, counsel from a seasoned staff of business and advocacy experts, access to the most effective and affordable ways to optimize operations, and a broad range of professional affiliations through which to reach a bigger pool of prospective clients.
