Jamba Commits $100,000 to Help Keep Kids Active across America

Jamba Juice Donates Athletic Equipment to Students Across the Nation Through DonorsChoose.org as Part of the Company’s “Team Up for a Healthy America” Campaign

EMERYVILLE, Calif. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Mar. 19, 2013 - Jamba Juice Company (NASDAQ:JMBA), a leading healthy, active lifestyle brand, today reinforced its commitment to helping our nation’s children stay fit and keep active by contributing a $100,000 donation to DonorsChoose.org. Jamba Juice® will direct the funds during 2013 through its “Team Up for a Healthy America™” campaign to provide play and exercise equipment to high-need schools across America to help keep kids’ minds and bodies active.

The Jamba® sponsored “Team Up” program was launched in 2011 in an effort to engage the company’s partners in a broad awareness campaign aimed at encouraging and inspiring our nation’s youth to make better dietary choices and providing ways for them to keep active. Individuals can join the cause by pledging to engage in a healthy activity each week via the Team Up for a Healthy America “Weekly Health Pledge,” found at www.myhealthpledge.com. In return, Jamba makes a $1 donation towards the purchase of needed sports and athletic gear through DonorsChoose.org, an online charity that provides students with the tools and experiences needed to help realize an excellent education.

In 2012, through the Team Up For a Healthy America campaign, Jamba was able to provide support for public school projects listed with DonorsChoose.org. Their donation of new playground equipment including basketball and flag football gear, sports balls, and jump ropes, touched more than 15,000 students in classrooms across America. Individuals can read more about projects funded by Jamba by visiting the DonorsChoose.org /Jamba Juice Giving Page. Jamba plans to continue to make periodic donations to support projects listed on the DonorsChoose.org website based on based on pledge counts received on their website, www.myhealthypledge.com.

“We are proud of the impact our program is beginning to have on the fight against childhood obesity by keeping kids active and eating healthier foods,” said Jamba Chairman, President and CEO, James D. White. “Together with our partners on Team Up, we hope to touch thousands of kids and adults across America and inspire them to live more active lifestyles by developing healthy habits that will last them a lifetime.”

“Health and fitness are essential to every student’s ability to learn and grow, and thanks to Jamba Juice, thousands of students across the country will have jump ropes, basketballs and fun and engaging equipment to keep their mind and bodies healthy,” said Charles Best, Donorschoose.org Founder and CEO.

In addition to the athletic equipment provided to public schools in 2012 through DonorChoose.org, Jamba also provided athletic equipment during Team Up For a Healthy America fitness clinics. Jamba, together with campaign partners from the WNBA and USA Water Polo, hosted four fitness clinics that provided kids with the opportunity to learn about the importance of proper nutrition and keeping active from globally recognized athletes. Jamba leveraged these events to donate additional sports equipment to dozens of additional schools and community groups.

People seeking ways to enhance their exercise and diet routines while supporting a worthy cause can log onto http://www.myhealthpledge.com and join a community of like-minded individuals committed to leading more healthful and active lifestyles.
