Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers Opening in the Carytown area of Richmond, Virginia, on Monday, May 20th.

Hand crafted pizza, ever-changing craft beers and unique artwork are just a few great reasons to stop into Mellow Mushroom Carytown beginning, Monday, May 20th.

May 16, 2013 // Franchising.com // Richmond, VA - Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers is proud to announce their newest opening in Carytown, on Monday, May 20th, at 3012 W. Cary Street in the former Plan 9 Music space.

Owner Scott Douglas is thrilled to bring Mellow to Richmond, and he states that bringing Mellow to Carytown is a ‘no brainer’. “Living in Richmond and being a part of the wonderful community, I knew that Carytown was the perfect fit for Mellow. Carytown and Mellow both parallel in that they are the perfect combination of history, art and uniqueness,” states Scott.

The menu features a variety of hand crafted pizzas, hoagies, salads, calzones and appetizers, using only the highest quality ingredients. Options for vegetarians, vegans, and kids are available, along with gluten free options.

Each Mellow Mushroom has the same great menu but a completely different look and feel. With the history of Richmond being unique and a living monument to the concept of time, this Mellow displays many different outlets of ‘time’ in a very creative and artistic fashion:

Music Wall: While keeping the history from the original Plan 9 Music space and incorporating it into one of the main dining walls, the concept of music is displayed with a physical representation of musical artifacts from different periods of time.

Mural: Local artist Michael Broth, designed the “time mural” depicting several different elements ranging from Einstein, who first theorized the relationship between time and space, to a Delorean from of the movie “Back to the Future”, and General Lee being fired from a cannon.

Millwork: Missing planks from the bar and throughout the inside perimeter of the restaurant are representations from old tobacco barns, where light will stream through the missing planks to create unique lighting within the Mellow.

Façade: In a more deliberate representation of time, local artist El Kamino designed the façade with a display of different time keeping devices, such as clocks and sundials.

Along with delicious food and creative artwork, this Mellow has something for everyone. To complement the dining experience there is a full service bar with a great variety of craft beers heavily influenced from local breweries, wine and cocktail options. Adventurous guests can join the Mellow Mushroom Beer Club and taste their way through endless amounts of draft and bottle selections, receiving exciting members-only rewards along the way.

The Mellow Mushroom will operate 7 days a week Sunday-Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 12 a.m., and Thursday-Saturday, 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. For more information on Mellow Mushroom Carytown, visit www.mellowmushroom.com/carytown and like us on Facebook at MellowMushroomCarytown.
