Service Brands International's Franchise Concepts Named to 2013 Military Friendly Franchise(R) List

Molly Maid, Mr. Handyman and ProTect Painters Recognized for Their Commitment to Helping Veterans Become Franchise Owners

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - June 11, 2013 // GLOBE NEWSWIRE // - Service Brands International, the parent company of industry leaders Molly Maid, Mr. Handyman and ProTect Painters, announces all three of its home-services franchise concepts were ranked in the top 10 percent of all franchises nationwide and named to the 2013 Military Friendly Franchise(R) list by Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs.

Service Brands International honors military veterans through several recruitment and community initiatives, including increasing the initial franchise fee discount for service members to $6,000 for Molly Maid, Mr. Handyman and ProTect Painters franchises. Since 2005, Service Brands International has given the discount to 79 veteran franchisees, saving nearly $200,000 off their start-up costs.

"Owning a franchise is like running a unit in the military. In both, there are proven systems that allow you to be successful," said Jo McCabe, Mr. Handyman franchise owner and U.S. Navy veteran. "By surrounding yourself with a great team and partnering with a supportive franchisor, you can have a rewarding and prosperous civilian career."

Service Brands International (SBI) intends to continue its support by setting the goal of awarding 30 percent of all franchises to military veterans this year. All Service Brands International concepts are members of the International Franchise Association's VetFran program, which helps veterans access franchise opportunities through training, financial assistance and industry support. We give thanks each year in honor of the National Day of Service and Remembrance throughout the Mr. Handyman system. Franchise owners donate their professional technicians' time to a deserving veteran or local charity and complete repair, maintenance or improvement projects free of charge.

Mike Riegel leads the charge for increasing the footprint of SBI's three franchise brands as the director of franchise development. He served in the U.S. Navy and is passionate about helping other servicemen and women find opportunities in high demand home service franchises, where their skills can carry over into serving customers, training for quality and managing team members.

The 2013 Military Friendly Franchise list was compiled via a data-driven survey overseen by an advisory board of industry experts. The survey results were independently tested by Ernst & Young based upon the weightings and methodology established by Victory Media.
