Over the last two years, Steele has helped his developer clients win a dozen of these prestigious awards, which are presented annually by the Chicago Association of Realtors® (CAR).
The awards program, established in 1992, recognizes ground-breaking rehabs and developments throughout the nine-county Chicago area that contribute to their community by serving a need, enhancing economic vitality and bolstering civic pride.
This year, Steele’s clients captured a remarkable seven awards at the May 23 ceremony after nabbing five in 2012. The 2013 award winning projects in Chicago that Steele worked on are: the Windsor Single-Family Rowhomes, 4063-69 S. Ellis Ave., new construction by Premium Builders; Modern Intelligence Series single-family home, 1730 N. Whipple Ave., new construction by Ultimate Development and Management, Inc.; Twin Residences at 3606 S. Lake Park Ave., multi-unit renovation by Avante Garde Design Group; Kingsford Estate, Phase I, 5044 S. Michigan Ave., multi-unit renovation by Chicago Construction Group LLC; 4945 S. Vincennes Ave., renovation by Avante Garde Design Group; 5922 S. King Dr., renovation by Prime Capital Group LLC; 4358 S. Oakenwald Ave., renovation by Kairos Inquisition.
Steele’s success in guiding key aspects of the development process and marketing the completed properties is the product of his engineering background, as well as the culmination of his years of experience in real estate sales and consulting. Steele’s active “hands-on” approach lets him work with a development from conception through delivery, and his reputation as an innovator has helped attract a large pool of buyers to the developments with which he is associated.
According to Steele, “a property, no matter where it is located should possess well thought-out floor plans, superb craftsmanship, efficient utilities and well-coordinated finishes. Aside from location, the perception of value is critical.”
To help clients stay competitive, Steele assists in drafting their business plans and construction schedules and in selecting finishes. This lets Steele’s clients in return maintain focus while improving supply chain management by sourcing materials in bulk and working efficiently with contractors.
“The end result is that we can build a great product while passing the savings on to the customer,” said Steele. “The key to success is to stay focused on the fundamental things that people look for in a quality home…thoughtful features that many times don't raise the construction budget."
Steele’s success is not measured in Good Neighbor Awards alone. Earlier this year, he was honored at the 2013 CAR Sales Awards as a Silver Level Achiever for sales of 70 to 114 units. He was also named the leading broker for total units sold in the Kenwood community of Chicago and leading broker in terms of dollar volume sold in Chicago’s Grand Boulevard, Washington Park and Woodlawn communities. His total sales volume in 2012 eclipsed $13 million.
