Do Sales Increases at Home Depot & Lowes Mean More Work for Companies Like House Doctors Remodeling?

Last week retailers Home Depot and Lowes announced strong earnings and strong sales for stores opened at least a year. Is DIY gaining in popularity or are companies who install home improvement products for homeowners like House Doctors Home Improvers also seeing growth?

Cincinnati, Ohio (PRWEB) August 29, 2013 - Last week retailers Home Depot reported their first double-digit comparable sales increase since 1999. Lowe’s also reported a 9.6% increase. Is do it yourself taking off again or does this mean more work for companies like House Doctors Remodeling?

Home Depot and Lowes market products to home owners who tackle their own home improvements (DIY) or, hire professionals to install the products (DIFM), as well as to professional contractors who choose the products to install for their customers. Each category is marketed to differently and has different needs as the project moves forward to completion.

Jim Hunter President of House Doctors Home Improvement Service said "The improving housing market is definitely making a difference. Home Depot and Lowes are big players in product sales. We are big players in product installation. When they sell their products it creates a ripple effect. Companies like ours are experiencing that and seeing double digit growth this year."

The increasing business seems to be coming from all three categories DIY, DIFM, and professional contractors. In fact sales of products to remodeling companies and contractors is the largest revenue generator for Home Depot, with almost double the sales of the DIY customers.

Hunter continued, "The good news for us is that our customers come from two of the segments the big box retailers target. Some of our customers purchase products then hire our professional handymen to install them (DIFM) and others have our franchisees recommend a product as part of the remodeling service we offer."
