From Desert Storm to Twin Peaks Headquarters

Life in a "Man's World" is All About Leadership for one Female Veteran

November 08, 2013 // Franchising.com // DALLAS – Former Corporal Angela Saunders, of McKinney, Texas, is on a mission. And like her past deployment with the U.S. Army, she has her sights on building a team just as strong to win this campaign.

The formal Corporal in the U.S. Army, whose years of active duty included Top Secret Clearance with the top Army General in Europe for the Desert Storm war, says it was the perfect training ground for her current role as the Manager of Recruiting for Twin Peaks restaurants. Since joining the corporate world at Twin Peaks in November of 2012, Saunders has been in charge of expanding the "man-power" so-to-speak at one of the fastest-growing and most successful restaurant chains in America that continues to skyrocket in size despite the economy.

From corporate personnel to staffing for franchise owners, it's the people who make the engine run, according to Saunders. And she is enlisting winners.

Succeeding in two fields once dominated by men, Saunders credits her military skills and team approach as her secret weapons in business. The military is about precision, strong values, a proven system, and outstanding leadership. Today that's exactly what she looks for when recruiting the best people to the growing Twin Peaks workforce.

"Having a past in the Armed Forces has impacted my day to day perceptions and actions in a corporate environment," Saunders said. "I learned the importance of working as a team, the significance of work training and the benefits of having clear expectations of others. It's not always a life and death situation in the civilian world, but the skills are transferable and just as important in business."

Saunders is also focused on attracting more military veterans to the chain for jobs. "I have future goals for Twin Peaks to participate in Military Recruiting Job Fairs to provide information on how life in the military is a great background to have not only on the corporate side, but also on the franchise side of our company," she said.
