Oxi Fresh Cleaning Up the Competition

Green carpet cleaning franchise continues unrivaled growth, Looks to add 30-50 new locations annually.

November 26, 2013 // Franchising.com // LAKEWOOD, Colo. – The appearance of wall-to-wall carpeting in the 1950s sparked the growth of the carpet and upholstery cleaning industry, which has continued to grow as more and more people sign up for regular cleanings across the United States. In fact, over the past 15 years, the carpet cleaning industry has experienced unprecedented growth from $1.8 billion to approximately $4 billion. By 2015, the industry is expected to gross nearly $5 billion.

This increasing demand has created a goldmine of opportunity for companies like Oxi Fresh Carpet Cleaning.

Known for its green, oxygen-powered carpet cleaning system, Oxi Fresh has expanded its national footprint to include more than 250 locations in 45 states. Having opened nearly 60 new locations in the last three years alone, the company plans to add 30-50 new locations annually through a low-cost, home-based franchise opportunity.

"Every year, homeowners lay more than 14 billion square feet of carpet, and all of that carpet has to be cleaned," said Jonathan Barnett, Founder and CEO of Oxi Fresh. "There are a lot of carpet cleaning companies out there, and each one claims that they are best, but none of them have revolutionized the business the way we have. Our products are carefully designed and professionally tested to ensure not only their effectiveness, but their environmental friendliness."

Barnett started Oxi Fresh in 2006 because – as he learned in college and graduate school – carpet cleaning has a low barrier to entry, is excellent for creating repeat business, offers a service in high demand and has the potential to net millions of dollars.

Working with a team of chemists, Barnett created an innovative and environmentally-friendly carpet cleaning system that uses green cleaning solutions, leaves no sticky residue and is safe for children and pets. In addition, Oxi Fresh’s cleaning method only requires two gallons of water per home – as opposed to the 40-50 gallons that other carpet cleaners use – and offers one of the fastest dry times possible: one hour on average.

The other key to Oxi Fresh’s success, Barnett says, is its exclusive Scheduling Center, which answers calls and schedules appointments for all of the company’s franchisees. It receives approximately 2,500 calls each day and allows franchisees to work "on their business, rather than in their business."

In addition to carpet cleaning, Oxi Fresh provides services for rugs, upholstery, hardwood floors and tile and grout.
Oxi Fresh is a home-based business and with a low investment of about $50,000 – which includes a one-time franchise fee of $32,900 and a full equipment package; Barnett also says franchisees are able to effectively manage their overhead costs and minimize risks. Oxi Fresh franchisees are also given protected territories that include up to 110,000 households.

"It excites me to see our franchisees take pride in their Oxi Fresh business," he added, "and in building lifelong customer relationships."
