DALLAS Dec. 9, 2013 // PRNewswire // - Red Mango, the well-known yogurt franchise and one of the fastest-growing frozen yogurt concepts in the United States, is expanding to Puerto Rico. A Master Developer agreement with Good For You Franchise, LLC includes plans to open five restaurants in the next six months followed by an undisclosed number of additional locations that Good For You Franchise, LLC and Red Mango FC, LLC will create through the recruitment of franchise agreements across the region.
The first Red Mango store in Puerto Rico will also be among one of the first stores in the Americas with an expanded cafe concept featuring a drive-thru and will open in Puerto Rico Plaza opposite the Interamericana University in Rio Piedras in December.
"Puerto Rico, as a market, is fertile and successful for franchise concepts and that is why more and more of them include the island in its expansion plans. Moreover, frozen yogurt and the public's search of healthy dining options are clearly booming, and with this combination of factors we set out to bring Red Mango to Puerto Rico in a big way. This franchise offers a completely different product than the ones present in our local market today. Unlike most frozen yogurt stores, Red Mango yogurt is all natural and the 'cafe restaurants' will offer an additional menu made with healthy and natural ingredients," said Mario Alverio Dominguez, CEO of Good For You Franchise, LLC behind Red Mango's expansion into Puerto Rico.
Alverio plans to expand Red Mango rapidly with an investment of more than $1.5 million, opening five developer-owned and operated establishments in San Juan and creating some 75 jobs. For additional Red Mango locations, Alverio and Red Mango are currently seeking potential franchisees to open locations across the island.
Alverio, a successful entrepreneur with more than 20 years of experience in various companies, saw an opportunity for development in Red Mango when he observed the increased interest from local consumers in healthy and nutritious alternatives. "Besides its natural yogurt, Red Mango Cafe will offer an extensive menu including freshly squeezed juices, natural smoothies and new cafe items such as sandwiches and wraps with less than 500 calories," he added.
Founded in the U.S. by Dan Kim in July 2007, Red Mango has grown to more than 260 locations throughout the U.S., Mexico, El Salvador and Uruguay and has been recognized by numerous industry awards.
"Puerto Rico represents an exciting opportunity for Red Mango to continue to innovate and differentiate from all other frozen yogurt competitors with our Cafe menu of healthy light foods, fresh squeezed juices and drive-thru service," said Kim.
Red Mango, one of the fastest-growing retailers of all-natural nonfat and low fat frozen yogurt and fresh fruit smoothies, opened its first U.S. store in July 2007, and has since celebrated more than 260 store openings across the U.S., and more than 36 international store openings across Mexico, El Salvador and Uruguay. Red Mango has received numerous awards, including the prestigious Nation's Restaurant News' "Hot Concepts!" award and the industry-recognized SupplySide's "Scientific Excellence Award," as well as best frozen yogurt honors in Dallas, Seattle, Las Vegas, Chicago, Utah and New York by highly-regarded independent publications. Headquartered in Dallas, Red Mango serves uniquely delicious frozen yogurt that is all-natural, nonfat and lowfat, gluten-free and fortified with beneficial live and active probiotic cultures like GanedenBC30®(Bacillus coagulans GBI-30, 6086), which probiotic helps support the immune and digestive systems when consumed as part of a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle. Red Mango is the first frozen yogurt retailer to earn the National Yogurt Association's Live and Active Cultures seal for meeting the required criteria for healthy frozen yogurt. Red Mango expanded its menu to include satisfying meal options such as its all-natural fruit and yogurt parfaits and fresh fruit smoothies.
