Toppers Secures Multi-Unit Deals across Three States

Unique Pizza Brand Grows Presence in Illinois, Michigan and Nebraska

January 08, 2014 // Franchising.com // WHITEWATER, Wis. – Toppers Pizza (Toppers), a rapidly growing eclectic pizza delivery franchise brand, is proud to announce its recent multi-unit signings in Chicago, Grand Rapids, Mich., and Omaha and Lincoln, Neb. These newest signings will add 11 new store commitments to Toppers’ existing pipeline of future stores, showcasing the brand’s robust expansion abilities and commitment to sharing its love for pizza with more people across the nation.

"2013 has been a winning year for us and Toppers continuously proves to be a rewarding investment opportunity for entrepreneurs as we head into Q4 with three, multi-unit, area development agreements," said Chris Cheek, Toppers’ Chief Development Officer. "The Toppers brand has made great strides in its Midwestern expansion and we’re thrilled to continue building our presence and satisfying pizza appetites."

Entrepreneurs Nathan Leder of Grand Rapids will be spearheading growth in Michigan with a two-unit deal; Benjamin Tresidder is leading growth in south Chicago with a three-unit deal; and father-son team Jon S. Crowe & Jon P. Crowe in Nebraska with a six-unit agreement. These signings will push Toppers to more than 60 locations nationwide and boost the pizza brand’s continued expansion.

"Our impressive growth is in direct support of our goal to develop the Toppers pizza-footprint nationally," said Cheek. "Toppers’ unmatched brand positioning has allowed us to carve our way to the forefront of the cluttered pizza segment and still appeal to a broad consumer base."

Currently, the brand boasts locations throughout Wisconsin, Minnesota, Kentucky, Ohio, Illinois, North Carolina, Nebraska, Arkansas, Indiana and Texas.

"Our entire operation is distinct because we create an experience that is focused on our customers," said Scott Iversen, Vice President of Marketing. "The eclectic and unique experience that we’ve cultivated across the system has not only enabled us to turn our guests into fanatics but has also empowered us to continue driving growth into new and untapped markets."

As a growth-focused franchise, Toppers forecasts an impressive Q4 of 2013 with plans to build a larger presence throughout the Midwest by the end of the year. The brand aims to reach 500 locations by 2020, primarily through the focused support of multi-unit operators.

A brand dedicated to customer service and unique offerings shows its success in its numbers. In Q1 of 2013, Toppers released an edit to its already robust earnings claim, with company-owned units averaging $889,086 in gross sales/year with an impressive $143,519 net income. This disclosure has helped the brand add 17 new store commitments since June.

"This is a very exciting moment for Toppers. Our brand has such a dedicated following in the states where we already have a presence, we are confident the new signed territories will garner the same reaction," Iversen said. "As we begin to secure more multi-unit operators, we will be able to sustain our continued growth and cultivate an even greater following of fans."
