Merry Maids is "Raising the Roof" to Drive Awareness of the No.1 Killer in Women by Supporting Heart Month

Merry Maids is partnering with the American Heart Association for its second year to raise awareness and funds to help battle heart disease.

Memphis, Tenn (PRWEB) February 03, 2014 - As heart disease continues to claim the lives of thousands of women each year, Merry Maids is going red in a big way to help raise awareness and funds to support research and education for the American Heart Association®.

As a national supporter for its second year, Merry Maids, the nation’s largest home cleaning company, is sponsoring the Go Red for Women® campaign to encourage Americans to wear red during February to help drive awareness of the disease and raise funds.

During the month of February, Merry Maids will donate $5 from every cleaning to the American Heart Association, up to $25,000. In addition, Merry Maids will donate $1 to the American Heart Association, up to $2,500, for every "Like" received on the national Merry Maids Facebook page.

Local Merry Maids branch and franchise offices are helping spread awareness of the disease by placing red house-shaped coin banks in customers’ homes to collect loose change. At the end of February, a Merry Maids team member will pick-up the coin bank and donate 100 percent of the funds raised to the American Heart Association to help fight heart disease and help millions of men and women across the country.

In addition, team members will wear Go Red shirts, pins and bracelets as a visual reminder to customers and communities of the importance in Going Red. Some Merry Maids branch and franchise locations will host heart education sessions with cardiologists and nutritionists, along with other heart-healthy events or blood pressure checks for their employees during February.

"Merry Maids is committed to raising awareness around heart disease because it touches families and communities we serve every day," said Raj Midha, Merry Maids vice president of marketing. "We are a proud supporter of the American Heart Association and the life-saving research they do about this largely preventable disease. It is important to educate women and men, of signs and symptoms so they can identify them if a situation arises – for themselves or someone around them."

With the help of customers, owners, managers and team members, Merry Maids was able to raise $150,000 for the American Heart Association in its first year of the Merry Maids Raise the Roof campaign.
