Erin Marcus' Partnership Building Earns Her National Recognition

Evanston, IL (PRWEB) March 25, 2014 - In the two years since Erin Marcus opened her Caring Transitions franchise in Evanston, she's made it her business to positively impact the brand nationwide. She's worked with new owners, opened her business as a training center and built a network of franchise owners who work together throughout the year.

It's those strides that have earned her the recognition as the co-award winner for Caring Transition's Trailblazer of the Year.

"Erin Marcus has 'blazed a trail' not only for other franchisees to follow, but for other Caring Transitions Markets to follow. Having opened her business in February 2012, she has been dedicated to promoting her business and the Caring Transitions brand and, with a background in marketing and networking, Erin has used her vast experience to help accomplish just that. As an On-Site Training Center she has volunteered her time to help teach new franchisees how to promote Caring Transitions in their home markets," Caring Transitions President Chris Seman said.

"Together with Mark and Sue Fadden – the other co-award winners – their team approach to promoting the Brand in the Chicagoland Market, and helping to organize efforts between all nine offices in the area, has set a standard for Caring Transitions Offices across the country to follow," he added.

Marcus' business specializes in managing senior moves, downsizing, and estate liquidation. Full service projects include everything from helping to choose what is going to the new home, to liquidating items no longer desired and getting a house ready for market…or better yet, for closing. Estate liquidations can take a variety of forms from traditional physical sales to online auctions. Caring Transitions can help manage the entire process or provide services individually depending on the family's circumstances.

Before launching her own business, Marcus worked in corporate America in long-term care insurance, most recently as the Senior Vice President of Business Development for LTCI Partners.

"That job was all about problem solving, relationship building and marketing. I loved it, but I knew it was time for a change. I wanted to use those skills on a more personal level and with my own business. That's what led me to Caring Transitions," she said.

Founded in 2006, the Caring Transitions franchisehas been a trusted and highly respected national company leading the way in senior moving, household liquidations and estate sales management in dozens of cities across the United States. Caring Transitions is part of the International Franchise Association, the Small Business Association's Franchise Registry, VetFran and Minority Fran.

Her partnership with the Faddens started shortly after the business opened. In fact, they went to training about a month after Marcus.

"We just always kept in contact and, as additional franchises came on board, we just got more and more involved. I wanted to find a way to work together, so we started with monthly calls. It was a bit like herding cats and, in the beginning we felt like we were the only ones talking, but I knew the benefits would be worth it," Marcus said. "At the root, we were trying to create an environment where everyone worked together to create both stronger individual franchises and a stronger Caring Transitions brand."

In the time since those first calls, those monthly phone meetings have turned into formal business partnerships. The franchises work together to share resources, marketing costs, sponsorships and even employees.

"Our resources at the corporate office keep saying is that you're in business FOR yourself but not BY yourself and we are trying to bring that to the next level. When we are working together, we're creating the best ideas to make a stronger brand and the wheels just start turning. Consider how we share employees – because we can pool our best employees and give those people more hours, we have a better overall team. It's a great situation," Marcus said.
