Re-building A Franchise: House Doctors Turnaround Gains Momentum

Cincinnati, Ohio (PRWEB) June 04, 2014 - Under new ownership House Doctors the professional handyman and remodeling franchise has been re-built from the ground up over the last two years. The turn around initiated by CEO Jim Hunter includes a focus on a new breed of owner, improved support, the launch of a new website and the introduction of a number of strategic partners.

These changes are enabling the company to operate in additional markets like aging in place. Owners are positive, excited and experiencing growth as they line up to offer great validation for the business to potential new owners. The initial success of the strategy has existing owners, in the system for 10 years, renewing, and a new batch of entrepreneurs ramping up faster than ever before. Hunter is forecasting double digit growth this year.

"The Brand was launched in the 90's as one of the first to bring professionalism to the handyman industry," said Hunter, "Many who joined the network early on and over the years that followed were handymen who worked on the growing to do lists of busy homeowners. They had joined the network to find a job, that would include the backing of a Brand and marketing support, but not to build a business."

Hunter who bought the company just two years ago continued, "Things are very different today. The downturn in the economy and changes in the market made it tough for those guys who had not built businesses. Over the last few years many of those handyman owners moved on and today we have a re-designed model that takes advantage of the changing market conditions and the increasing opportunity. Today's owners are not hammer swingers but leaders and business builders. They are running companies that include teams of handymen working on light remodeling projects as well as the to do lists of busy homeowners. The great news is our owners are having fun again growing their businesses."

Hunter feels that over the last two years his team has built the foundation that will see the Company produce many successful business owners, in the years to come, across the U.S. He continued by saying, "I knew this was a turn around situation coming in but I really wanted to make a difference for our owners. I believe very much in the opportunity that everyone has here and with the introduction of these few initial changes I'm not surprised to see that we're building momentum." Hunter ended, "We did take a step back from growth as we proved our new model. It was only fair. However interest is really growing again based on the success our franchisees are now experiencing. We've had twelve new franchisees join our network recently and even I can't believe the numbers some are already producing. New products introduced over the last two years are starting to have a positive effect on revenues. Owners have their teams installing walk in tubs, converting tubs to showers, fitting grab bars, and replacing doors and windows, all in increasing amounts. Some franchisees are now booked out weeks in advance. Year over year sales, same stores older than two years, are up 41%. It's all very exciting and this early success will give us the opportunity to continue to make significant improvements to our program as we grow."
