The Jack in the Box Foundation Donates $325,000 to Big Brothers Big Sisters

SAN DIEGO - June 10, 2014 - (BUSINESS WIRE) - The Jack in the Box Foundation today announced a $325,000 donation to Big Brothers Big Sisters, its primary charitable partner since 1998. Monies for the donation were raised during the 24th annual Jack in the Box® Charity Golf Tournament, which was held June 6 in Indian Wells, California.

Nearly 400 Jack in the Box® restaurant franchisees, employees and vendors attended the event at the Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort & Spa. Proceeds, including monies raised during silent and live auctions, will support a variety of Big Brothers Big Sisters’ programs, including military mentoring programs in Jack in the Box restaurant communities.

Joining the Jack in the Box Foundation as co-title sponsor for this year’s event was the National Jack in the Box Franchise Association, which represents 100 franchise owners with more than 1,700 Jack in the Box restaurants.

Year to date in 2014, the Jack in the Box Foundation has donated more than $600,000 to Big Brothers Big Sisters, which also includes a $245,000 contribution in January, comprising funds raised during the holiday sale of a limited-edition ornament at Jack in the Box restaurants. Since naming Big Brothers Big Sisters as its primary charitable partner in 1998, the Jack in the Box Foundation has contributed more than $7 million in financial and in-kind support to the agency.

About Big Brothers Big Sisters

For more than 100 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. As the nation’s largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters’ mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.

Partnering with parents/guardians, schools, corporations and others in the community, Big Brothers Big Sisters carefully pairs children (“Littles”) with screened volunteer mentors (“Bigs”) and monitors and supports them in one-to-one mentoring matches throughout their course. The organization holds itself accountable for children in the program to achieve measurable outcomes, such as higher aspirations; greater confidence and better relationships; educational success; and avoidance of delinquency and other risky behaviors.

Most children served by Big Brothers Big Sisters are in single-parent and low-income families or households where a parent is incarcerated. Headquartered in Philadelphia with a network of about 340 agencies across the country, Big Brothers Big Sisters serves nearly 630,000 children, volunteer mentors and families.
