Dentons Expands its German Practice in Russia

June 19, 2014 // Franchising.com // Moscow, Berlin, June 2014 – Dentons has strengthened its German Practice in Russia with the addition of three lawyers from Orrick. Philipp Windemuth joined Dentons' Moscow and Berlin offices as a partner, Dr. Joachim Homeister – as of counsel and Elena Homeister – as associate in the first quarter of 2014.

This follows the arrival of Alex Stolarsky from Beiten Burkhardt in November 2013.

The German Practice Group in Russia (GPG) has been advising German, Austrian and other international clients on their activities in Russia since 1999. Our GPG team consists of German-qualified lawyers residing in Germany, Russia and other countries, native German speakers qualified in Russia and other jurisdictions who have lived and worked in Russia for many years, and lawyers qualified in Russia who have acquired advanced German linguistic skills as a result of studying and/or working in German-speaking countries. They are familiar with both German and Russian legislation as well as with business practices and cultures in Russia, in German-speaking countries, as well as in many other countries in which Dentons clients invest.

Dentons' GPG works regularly on a broad range of Russian and German law matters. Where necessary, the GPG also works with other lawyers in our offices in Berlin and Frankfurt.

The GPG works in Russia for major clients from Germany, Austria and Switzerland active in various sectors, including retail, chemical industry, life sciences, real estate, financial services, automotive, infrastructure, luxury goods, software and others.

Florian Schneider is managing partner of Dentons' Moscow office. Philipp Windemuth is a partner in Dentons' Moscow and Berlin offices. He specializes in M&A, real estate and financing transactions. Over the past 23 years, he has represented leading multinational companies and financial institutions in their investment projects in the Russian Federation and other CIS countries, including McDonalds, Coca-Cola, British Gas, Siemens, Google, Viking River Cruises, EBRD, Immofinanz, Industrial Investors and many others. Philipp also works closely with Skolkovo and the Russian Association of Venture Investors to help Russian startups expand internationally.

Dr. Joachim Homeister specializes in multinational real estate, corporate and financing transactions, in particular relating to the Russian Federation and the CIS. He also advises start-up companies in connection with foundation, financing and corporate law issues. In addition, Dr. Homeister has substantial expertise in commercial litigation. His clients include European investment funds, banks and companies doing business in Russia as well as Russian and CIS companies who do business in Germany and the EU.

Alex Stolarsky's practice covers a broad spectrum of corporate and transactional matters with a particular focus on M&A, joint ventures and commercial law.
