Win a Year of Free Ice Cream in Bruster's 25th Anniversary Selfies Contest

PITTSBURGH - July 01, 2014 - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Wipe that ice cream and whipped cream off your face – or don't – and smile for your camera. You just might win ice cream for a year.

Bruster's Real Ice Cream is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a "25 Days of Selfies" contest. Grab a spoonful, cup or cone of your favorite Bruster's frozen treat, snap a creative selfie and text "BrustersSelfie" to 343434.

No Bruster's nearby? That's not a problem, because no purchase is required. Everyone who sends in a selfie – with or without ice cream in it – gets a Bruster's discount coupon.

Eligible selfies will be posted on Bruster's Facebook page and be entered into a random drawing. Each week in July one winner will be selected to receive free ice cream for a year in the form of a gift card.

"Bruster's has been putting smiles on faces for 25 years and this is our way of thanking our customers and involving them in our celebration," said Michael Branigan, Vice President, marketing. "It's sort of a virtual anniversary party. We can't wait to see what kind of fun, crazy selfies people send in."

The contest ends July 25 at 11:59 p.m. Complete rules and details are online at

As part of its celebration, Bruster's created a special new 25th Anniversary flavor, Black Cherry Chocolate Chunk, available only in July.

About Bruster's

Pennsylvania entrepreneur Bruce Reed founded Bruster's Real Ice Cream. He opened the first shop on July 13, 1989 next to his family's drive-in restaurant in Bridgewater, northwest of Pittsburgh. Word quickly spread, leading to long lines and traffic jams as ice cream fans discovered Bruster's extraordinary, homemade flavors.

Today, there are nearly 200 Bruster's ice cream shops. Every day, Bruster's ice cream makers in each location hand craft up to 36 indulgent flavors from more than 200 recipes.

In 2013, Bruster's sold 1.5 millions gallons of ice cream and 3,357,900 waffles cones. It used 65,000 pounds of Reese's Cups, 103,000 pounds of pecans and 3.8 million ounces of whipped cream.

Along with its dedication to extraordinary ice cream, sorbet, frozen yogurt, hand-spun milk shakes and banana splits, Bruster's is committed to mentoring young people and providing important work and business experience for their futures.
