Boston's Restaurant & Sports Bar Kicks off Renewed Franchise Development with a Five-Unit Deal

National Casual Dining Brand Reignites Franchise Efforts

DALLAS - August 25, 2014 - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Unlimited growth potential is in the air, or at least that seems to be the case for Boston's Restaurant & Sports Bar (Boston's), the casual-plus dining concept that combines a family-friendly restaurant and separate sports bar under one roof. The brand has recently announced the re-launch of its franchise within the states, starting with the signing of a five-unit deal.

Almost immediately upon deciding that the brand was ready to re-franchise, Boston's signed a deal for five units in the Baltimore area with new franchise partner, Dr. Keith Asante. The restaurants will open throughout the city of Baltimore, Baltimore County and Hartford County, the first two located in Bel Air and White Marsh.

Born and raised in Ghana, Dr. Asante was the CEO and President for an IT company in the Baltimore area for more than 10 years. He is also a Professor at the University of Maryland System. Previously a part-time chef in the Army, Dr. Asante has always had a passion for food. After researching Boston's and visiting the other Maryland Boston's restaurant, Dr. Asante found two reliable partners to join his endeavor and they decided to sign for the five restaurants together. The two partners will run the day-to-day operations at the first two restaurants, while Dr. Asante will oversee all of the locations on a broader scale.

"After realizing the unquestionable success of Boston's in Canada, and the fact that the brand presence throughout the country is undeniable, it instantly became clear to me that the company has a solid, proven business model," said Dr. Asante. "I want to do what I can to help Boston's become equally well-known throughout the states and it starts here, within the Baltimore regional markets."

Boston's took a step back and re-evaluated the business model earlier this year, improving the successful locations, coming up with a solid growth plan for the future and hiring a new, highly-skilled management team to handle franchise development. With the common goal to grow the business as much and as efficiently as possible, the new franchise development team hopes to grow to 63 restaurants in the U.S. by 2018.

"Now is the right time for Boston's to resume our franchise efforts," said Troy Cooper, COO of Boston's Restaurant & Sports Bar. "With our current restaurants performing well, combined with the energy and spark that our new franchise development executive team is bringing to the table, we are offering our franchise owners a support system that is unlike any other."

Tim Matousek, VP of Operations at Boston's, highlighted the company's excitement to have Dr. Asante, stating, "We're honored to welcome Dr. Asante to the Boston's family. He has demonstrated a clear passion for the brand and has a real understanding for the business. He's a successful entrepreneur, a true visionary. We look forward to a long-lasting relationship with Dr. Asante and the incredibly talented management team in which he has already surrounded himself."

Boston's Restaurant & Sports Bar currently has 32 locations operating in 22 states and 7 locations in Mexico. The company's sister brand, Boston Pizza, celebrating 50 years of service, has more than 375 locations throughout Canada and is considered the No. 1 casual dining brand in the country. Based on its success in Canada, Boston's is now ready to re-ignite franchise development across the U.S.
