Alamo Focuses On The "Draft" In Drafthouse with New Monthly Beer Spotlight

New national initiative delves deep into the world of brews focusing on a different beer style each month, starting this September with Oktoberfest beers.

August 29, 2014 // Franchising.com // Austin, TX - Prosit! The Alamo Drafthouse is excited to announce the launch of its new monthly spotlight exploring the vast and tasty world of beers, with a focus on a different style of brew each month. Long known as an oasis for those passionate about cinema and the moviegoing experience, "Drafthouse" is an equally vital part of the Alamo's name and identity. Celebrating craft beers has always been as much a part of the Alamo experience as the custom pre-shows, the no talking policy, and the "Royale with Cheese."

Now, the Alamo is taking its love of beer just a step further to help novices and aficionados alike discover the nuances of IPAs, brown ales, pilsners and more. There will be special tap and bottle selections from local craft breweries, beer-centric events like exclusive keg tappings, meet-the-brewer nights and more.

"Everyone of our locations has people behind the bar who are passionate about beer," said Alamo Drafthouse CEO Tim League, "and the Monthly Beer Spotlight focuses that passion."

The program kicks off in September with a celebration of Oktoberfest - or Märzen style - beers. Where available, the renowned Oktoberfest offerings from heavy-hitters Shiner, Sam Adams and Brooklyn Brewery will be featured at Alamo and Glass Half Full locations. There will also be selections of Oktoberfest-style beers from local and regional craft breweries specially curated by each location.

"With this new program, we're looking to the beer geeks on our staffs to really highlight different seasonal styles for our guests in our theaters and in our Glass Half Full Tap Rooms," said Beverage Director Bill Norris. "Stay tuned for some cool stuff we've got up our sleeves going forward too."
