Bruster's Real Ice Cream Brings on Corey Bradley as New Vice President of Franchise Development

Successful Turnaround Positions Chain to Enter Additional U.S., International Markets

PITTSBURGH - September 16, 2014 - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Franchising veteran Corey Bradley has joined Bruster's Real Ice Cream as its new vice president of Franchise Development, a key position in furthering the premium frozen treat chain's turnaround and growth strategy.

Most recently Bradley served as director of Franchise Development for Kahala Brands, responsible for driving unit growth for the company's 15 national restaurant brands including Cold Stone Creamery, Blimpie and Taco Time.

Bruster's, a 200-unit franchised chain, launched a five-point turnaround program in early 2013 to reignite sales growth and attract new franchisees. It revamped its business and franchise model to reduce operational and investment costs. Since then, Bruster's has enjoyed six straight quarters of same-store sales growth, with some markets up as much as 13 percent over last year.

"As our brand continues to enjoy unprecedented success, it is extremely well-positioned for additional growth," said Bruster's Chief Executive Jim Sahene. "Now is the ideal time to add a position dedicated to franchise development and tap into Corey's expertise."

In addition to his foodservice industry experience, Bradley was manager of Business Development for Cole Retail Investments, principal at franchise consultancy Creative Development Services, manager of Franchise Development for Re-Bath Corp. and manager of Business Development at MicroAge.

"Bruster's management team has crafted a dynamic expansion strategy to ensure the chain's future success," Bradley said. "We are poised to become the top brand in the premium frozen treats category."
