Project Pie to Bring a New Pizza Experience to New Jersey

Fast-Casual Pizza Franchise Inks Deal for Nine New Restaurants throughout State

CARLSBAD, Calif. - September 18, 2014 - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Soon, when Jersey residents are in the mood for a pizza quickie, they’ll have Project Pie to satisfy them. Known for everyday artisan pizza custom-built by you, Project Pie, will launch the build-your-own-pizza experience across New Jersey through a franchise deal that is set to bring a total of nine new restaurants to the state.

The new restaurants will be owned and operated by local company The Belvedere Group, which plans to open the first Project Pie location in Northern New Jersey by early 2015.

Project Pie has perfected the pizza quickie – every custom-built pizza is cooked in two minutes in a high-temperature, stone-hearth oven and served to the guests in less than five minutes from the time of their order.

"We are excited to bring the best fast-casual pizza experience to New Jersey," said Dom Sgambelluri, who will serve as the local franchise group’s Director of Operations for Project Pie. "With our artisan-quality pizza that is fast and affordable, Project Pie is going to shake up the typical pizza experience in Jersey."

Project Pie is driving menu and pricing innovation within the segment by offering a wide variety of toppings while charging the same price whether a pizza has two toppings or 26. The "pre-designed menu" features classic cheese pizza, a prosciutto and caramelized onion pizza and other "white" pizzas that come with no sauce – and customers can customize any creation with gluten-free crust.
