9Round Records Nearly 5.8 Million Kicks for Breast Cancer Awareness

October 21, 2014 // Franchising.com // GREENVILLE, NC – At least for one day, 9Round, a national chain of kickboxing franchises with 160 locations in 36 states, kicked breast cancer to the curb.

On October 16, 2014, 9Round hosted its third annual "Kick for the Cure" fundraiser, during which fitness and kickboxing enthusiasts had a unique opportunity to help raise money for the support of breast cancer care. 9Round donated one penny for every kick recorded throughout the day at nearly all of its 160 clubs nationwide.

By the end of the day, 5,781,301 kicks were recorded, raising $57,813 to advance treatment and laboratory research for Breast Cancer.

"This is the least we can do to honor the millions of wives, mothers, sisters, daughters, and friends who are affected by breast cancer every day," said 9Round founder Shannon Hudson. "The effort and generosity of our franchisees and their local communities was nothing short of overwhelming."

Since launching the annual event three years ago, 9Round’s "Kick for the Cure" fundraiser has recorded just over eight million kicks and raised nearly $83,000.

"9Round is always doing things for the community," said Kelly Green, a member of 9Round’s Ballantyne, North Carolina location who tallied 1,120 kicks herself during this year’s event. "To step up and raise funds like this for cancer, it is just amazing."
