Woodcraft Partners with Black Dog Salvage To Expand Upcycling Program
New Woodcraft partnership with Black Dog Salvage involves support for DIY TV reality show, "Salvage Dawgs."
PARKERSBURG, W. VA. (PRWEB) February 19, 2015 - Woodcraft Supply, LLC, one of the nation's oldest and largest suppliers of quality woodworking tools, supplies, and plans, has entered into a partnership with Black Dog Salvage, a Roanoke, Virginia, firm that is the focus of a DIY Network TV reality series, "Salvage Dawgs." Woodcraft hopes to expand its upcycling program through the partnership.
Black Dog Salvage, founded by Robert Kulp and Mike Whiteside, is one of the premier architectural salvage operations in the United States. The two Navy veterans salvage everything from doors, windows and mantels to vintage plumbing and hardware and in turn sell the valuable vintage pieces to a wide range of clients who use them to restore other historical structures or add character to newer buildings.
Kulp and Whiteside introduce the "Salvage Dawgs" TV audience to their business, as the shrewd negotiators bid on homes and buildings condemned to be demolished in order to preserve the remarkable pieces of America's history that are hidden inside old structures.
"But the 'Salvage Dawgs' crew does a lot more than salvaging," Vince Grlovich, Woodcraft vice president for sales and marketing, said. "They transform some of the treasures they find into one-of-a-kind, upcycled pieces for sale. This upcycling aspect that involves both 'Salvage Dawgs' and Black Dog Salvage is what appealed to Woodcraft in the search for more opportunities to improve our upcycling efforts."
For more than a year Woodcraft has been promoting upcycling through monthly demos at retail stores, a special section on woodcraft.com, project ideas on Woodcraft's Pinterest and Instagram pages, and other projects. "Woodcraft's interest in upcycling is twofold," Vince Grlovich, said. "One reason is to help reduce the amount of trash in landfills, and the other is to help customers learn to identify and complete upcycling projects with the help of our products and trained staff."
By partnering with Black Dog Salvage, Grlovich said Woodcraft hopes to reach a broader audience and make more people aware of Woodcraft and what Woodcraft has to offer DIY enthusiasts who pursue salvage/upcycling projects. "Woodcraft will update the equipment in the 'Salvage Dawgs' woodshop, and in return Black Dog Salvage will provide a monthly upcycling project that can be used for Woodcraft retail store upcycling demos and for posting on both company websites," Grlovich said.
