Jersey Mike's Subs Opens 3rd Colorado Springs Location

Owner Celebrates With Free Sub Fundraiser

March 11, 2015 // Franchising.com // Colorado Springs, CO - Jersey Mike’s Subs, known for its fresh sliced/fresh grilled subs, opened in Colorado Springs on March 4. Franchise owner Tim Holliday held a grand opening and free sub fundraiser from Wednesday, March 4 to Sunday, March 8 to support the Wounded Warriors Project.

The new restaurant, located at 1710 East Woodmen Road, circulated 10,000 coupons throughout the community offering a free regular sub for a minimum $1 contribution to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) serves veterans and service members who incurred a physical or mental injury, illness, or wound, co-incident to their military service on or after September 11, 2001 and their families. On that date, America watched in horror as approximately 3,000 people died including hundreds of firefighters and rescue workers. Many warriors note a sense of duty to volunteer for the military following these tragic events.

“At Jersey Mike’s we are quickly redefining the word fresh,” said Tim Holliday. “We’re doing this by taking every measure to ensure a quality product goes out the door. We do things like cook our roast beef on-site each and every day and freshly slice all our meats and cheeses for each sub sandwich. We pile all these ingredients on freshly baked bread to create a truly authentic food experience. Everything is quickly made to order in full-view of each customer- just the way the first subs were made at the original Jersey Mike's more than fifty years ago!”

Holliday added, “Folks often ask me why I chose to become a Jersey Mike’s franchise owner and if I have any advice about franchising. I tell them that I did a lot of research and interviewed the Jersey Mike’s leadership team while they interviewed me. I met the entire office staff and everyone was dedicated to the success of the franchisees. I liked that they talked about giving back, community service, and integrity and this translates to how we open and operate our locations. For the first five days we’re open, we will be raising money for the Wounded Warrior Project. Since 2013 our two additional locations have given almost $15,000 to the WWP. In addition to raising money for WWP we are also involved with our local schools through various fund-raising partnerships and have raised over $10,000 that goes directly to those groups. I love this town and the openness of the west. I always build my Jersey Mike’s locations with room to sit, relax, and enjoy a great sandwich."

On giving back the Wounded Warrior Project Holliday commented, "I work with the WWP because I grew up as the son of an Army Combat Veteran. My Dad had visible reactions to loud noises as a result of his service. It was neither discussed, nor diagnosed. Supporting WWP is my way of serving my generation of vets. My father was out processed from the Army in 1953 at Ft. Carson after serving in the Korean War and always talked about how beautiful Colorado Springs was. My wife, Christy (Leader) is a 1991 graduate of USAFA and served 10 years active duty flying C-141s out of Charleston AFB. In 2008, as an AF reservist, Christy came back to USAFA as a math instructor. It was dream of hers to teach Calculus at a college level. She asked if I would move to C-Springs and I just said, when do we leave?”

Holliday is an exemplary Jersey Mike’s franchise owner who shares the company’s commitment to quality products and exceptional customer service, and who is dedicated to giving back to the local community. Since 2010, Jersey Mike’s locations throughout the country have raised nearly $10 million for worthy local charities and have distributed more than 1 million free sub sandwiches to help numerous causes. Currently, Jersey Mike’s franchisees throughout the nation are gearing up for the 5th Annual Jersey Mike’s Month of Giving in March. Last year, $2.1 million was raised for more than 100 different charities nationwide.
