Lucky Caniac Wins $100,000 In Raising Cane's One Love® Adventure Contest

Arizona Man Receives Grand Prize at Check Presentation Ceremony Held in Phoenix

March 20, 2015 // Franchising.com // PHOENIX – Winner winner chicken dinner®!

But this was no ordinary dinner. This delicious chicken finger meal came with a hefty bonus for one lucky Phoenix-area man - a cool 100 grand. But it almost didn’t happen.

Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers announced today that Luis Perez of Avondale, Arizona, is the Grand Prize winner of its 2015 One Love® Adventure Contest. The collect-and-win game kicked off nationwide on Jan. 14 and Perez was the only person in the United States who collected each of the game pieces bearing the letters needed to spell out the word “CANES.”

Perez said he had collected every letter but “E” after stopping at his local Cane’s virtually every day. He was having a rough morning and was leaning towards not stopping when he saw his path to work was clear with green lights all the way. With a bit of extra time, he thought the chicken finger stars might be aligned, so he pulled into the drive-thru. When he checked his cup, the elusive “E” was smiling back at him.

“I couldn’t believe it when I got that final piece and realized I had just won,” said Perez, who said he went to the Raising Cane’s in Avondale every day during the contest period. “I ate Cane’s for the first time when a girl brought it to work. Then I started coming every day during the contest. Now I’m a Caniac for life! When I got the E, I called the restaurant and the crewmember that answered shouted that someone had just found the key letter. I could hear everyone screaming and celebrating!”

Perez said he was planning to use his winnings to help support his wife and two young daughters. Raising Cane’s Founder & CEO Todd Graves connected with the winner via Skype to offer his congratulations and present him with his check.

“As we said from the start, the One Love Adventure is our way of saying ‘thank you’ to Caniacs all across the country for their loyalty over the years,” said Graves. “So I’m so happy to give Luis one hundred thousand thank-yous for being a Caniac!”

Louisiana-based Raising Cane’s is renowned for its One Love – quality chicken finger meals. The One Love Adventure is based on the many unique experiences that paved the way for Graves to open the very first Raising Cane’s in Baton Rouge. The rapidly growing chain recently earned the distinction of being among the top four quick service restaurant chains in the nation for 2014, according to the authoritative Sandelman & Associates Quick-Track study, based on food quality, customer service, cleanliness and other important factors.

“We’re obviously thrilled that the winner is a loyal customer of our restaurants,” said Joe Micatrotto Jr., CEO and partner of local franchisee MRG Marketing & Management. “Caniacs are well represented all across the Valley of the Sun, and we hope this exciting announcement prompts more folks that haven’t tried our chicken finger meals to drop by and see what everyone else is raving about.”
