Café Yumm! Issues Its First Benefit Company Report

Healthy Food, Healthy People, and Healthy Environment Emphasized

April 22, 2015 // Franchising.com // Eugene, OR. – As Oregon’s First Benefit Company (tied with 28 other Oregon companies) and one of 467 Benefit Companies headquartered in Oregon, it is most satisfying to release on this Earth Day 2015 our first ever Benefit Company Report.

The Report consists of 24 pages of data, inspiring stories, photos, and explanation of how our Triple Bottom Line efforts are being carried out. It is organized into three categories: Healthy Food, Healthy People, and Healthy Environments.

Healthy Food reviews food choices, nutrition and calories, sourcing certified organic/sustainably grown, and filtered water programs. It illustrates our efforts to provide food that is Soul satisfying... Deeply nourishing® .

Healthy People reviews our safety training and record, employee benefits, advancement opportunities, job satisfaction, and diversity in the work place. It contains an inspiring story about a twenty-five-year-old woman who worked herself up from restaurant Crew Member to Manager then owner or her own Café Yumm! restaurant. She recently opened her second restaurant.

Healthy Environments reviews our green building efforts, local sourcing of products, bee friendly practices, community giving, and much more. It provides actual language that we strive to insert into leases to protect bee populations in the state.

“This Report collects and explains data from all of our many efforts to be a valuable member of our community,” says Co-founder Mark Beauchamp. “From donating over 50,000 meals, to generating over 100,000 kWh of solar electricity, to diverting waste from the landfill, we continually strive to improve operations. With seventeen restaurants throughout Oregon and Washington, our growth is both a blessing and a constant challenge. We appreciate the former and enthusiastically embrace the later.”

The Report ends with a look forward at improvement efforts and goals for 2015. It is available to the general public on-line at www.cafeyumm.com/Bcompany.
