The Chickery’s David Adjey Nabs a Spot On NRN’s 2015 Power List

Nation's Restaurant News' 2015 Power List: Reader's Picks honors Celebrity Chef David Adjey, Head Chef and Founder of The Chickery

May 06, 2015 // Franchising.com // Toronto, Canada - The Chickery’s founder and steward of better chicken, celebrity chef David Adjey, was listed on the 2015 Power List Reader Picks from Nation’s Restaurant News for 2015, an annual list of foodservice industry’s most influential players.

Adjey’s better chicken concept, The Chickery, is a fast casual restaurant based in Toronto which he created to live the mantra you can eat both fast and well. His food is all about taste, and his recipes put unique touches and flavors on chicken that could only come from a professional chef. The Chickery uses real, fresh, high quality ingredients…all natural, never frozen, humanely raised chicken, with no added water or flavoring.

Said Adjey, “A food revolution occurred around 10 years ago with the growing popularity of Food Network and celebrity chefs, but the world is now on the verge of experiencing a revolution in fast casual. Brands continue to push in the direction of gourmet, fresh, natural and premium menu strategies. The Chickery is perfectly positioned as the industry readies itself for Better Chicken to grow and gain market share. Demand is there.”

The Chickery is growing into an international restaurant chain with franchise development deals signed for Toronto and the Middle East, corporate expansion underway in Toronto and the U.S., a lease signed for a U.S. flagship location in Washington, D.C., and a non-traditional unit opening in Toronto’s Mt. Sinai Hospital food court in September.

“People will always eat chicken, but there are still way fewer options for chicken than there are for burgers. Chefs like Bobby Flay had already given burgers a face lift, so I decided to follow in their footsteps with a chicken restaurant,” said Chef Adjey.

Adjey has competed on Iron Chef America and also starred on both Restaurant Makeover and The Opener on Food Network.
