Sitters Etc Expands Throughout Florida With Six New Locations, Set To Add 30 Full-Time Employees

July 27, 2015 // Franchising.com // FORT MYERS, Fla. - Every day, 10,000 Americans turn 65. In Florida, the state with the highest percentage of senior citizens in the United States, that figure has special significance. Inspired by this demand for senior care services, Sitters Etc, the home care provider that has built a 14 year reputation for fostering “A Culture of Caring®”, is expanding throughout Florida courtesy of franchise area developer Ralph Laughton. Beginning with the opening of a new office in Fort Myers this September, additional offices will follow in Fort Myers Beach in March 2016, Naples in September 2016, Charlotte in March 2017, South Sarasota in September 2017 and Sarasota in March 2018. The new offices will create at least 30 full-time positions.

Ralph Laughton is passionate about raising the bar of quality home care service in Florida with the help of committed franchisee partners.

“Florida already has a large population of senior citizens,” said Laughton. “Yet the number of seniors living in Florida is projected to rapidly grow for each of the next 20 years as a result of retiring Baby Boomers. The U.S. government estimates that by 2030 Florida’s population of seniors over 65 will reach 7.1 million people. With such extraordinary population growth comes an increasing demand for senior home care services.”

“In my view,” said Laughton, “what makes owning a Sitters Etc. franchise so promising is that the growing demand for senior home care is no mere trend; a sustained increase in the senior population is projected throughout Florida and with it, a sustained increase in the number of potential clients as well.”

“We are actively searching for community focused entrepreneurs and investors who want to join our franchise partner network to ‘do good by doing good,’” said Laughton. “It’s essential that family members be confident that their loved one is cared for by an individual who is trained, professional and courteous. With our highly regarded ‘Culture of Caring’ and unwavering commitment to providing the highest levels of compassionate home care, Sitters Etc is uniquely qualified to empower our franchise partners in assisting and caring for seniors and recovering, disabled, chronically or terminally ill persons in the essential activities of daily living.”

Ralph Laughton provides tips on how to determine if a franchise is right for you.

  • Understand whether the home care franchisor operates some of its own units and shares knowledge with franchisees.
  • Insure that prime protected territories are still available in your area.
  • Ask if an in-field representative is available to assist you in building your business.
  • Determine the type of on-going support the franchisor provides.
  • Ask questions of multiple people within the organization to validate responses.
  • Request a pro forma.
  • Have available operating capital for at least six months.
  • Get advice from experts like SCORE or a similar organization.

About Sitters Etc

Founded in 2002 by Beau K. Brothers, Sitters Etc was born out of a desire to provide quality, compassionate care services for the elderly. Brothers has aspired to provide care services which would help seniors and their loved ones alike. Entering its 14th year in service of the elderly and disabled, his company’s mission is twofold: to raise the industry performance bar through proprietary caregiver selection and development processes, and to ultimately become a single-source provider of all home-care related services. The company has been franchising since 2013.
