Popular Uncle Maddio’s Pizza Joint Opens In North Charleston, Second Location In Charleston Area

Popularity of area’s first location drives rapid expansion in Charleston; opening features free pizza for lunch Saturday, Aug. 22

August 21, 2015 // Franchising.com // ATLANTA – Atlanta-based fast-casual pizza brand Uncle Maddio’s Pizza Joint is expanding its Charleston area footprint this week as it opens its second restaurant this Saturday, August 22nd at 11:00 in North Charleston at 4940 Centre Point Drive, Unit C., only six months after launching the first location at Town Center Plaza (North Highway 17) in Mount Pleasant.

In celebration of Uncle Maddio’s success in the Charleston area, the new North Charleston store will be serving FREE 9-inch, build-your-own, three-topping pizzas to guests in line from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. during the Grand Opening this Saturday Aug. 22, according to co-owner David Moulton. “Our unique approach to providing great customized pizza, salads and Italian sandwiches, coupled with prompt at-table delivery in a comfortable setting, has already built a strong following in the Charleston area,” said Moulton.

Moulton and his father, co-owner Bruce Moulton, plan to open a third Uncle Maddio’s location in the Charleston area in the next several months. David has more than a decade of fast-casual management experience-most notably with Domino’s, a traditional pizza delivery operation. The popular franchise chain is on pace to open a new unit every 10 days. “I love the Uncle Maddio’s build-your-own pizza concept; I think it is exactly the type of restaurant the community will enjoy with their friends, families and co-workers,” said Moulton.

Uncle Maddio’s is unique among most pizza restaurants, with guests interacting with the pizza maker to customize their very own pizza with premium ingredients and crust preferences, with the assurance their customized pie will be delivered oven hot to their table in less than 8 minutes. Uncle Maddio's offers only premium ingredients and more customization than any other fast-casual pizza restaurants. There are currently 37 Uncle Maddio’s operating in 13 states.

The rapidly growing fast casual pizza concept recently agreed to an investment by Washington, D.C. based S & S Investment Group, the original investors in Five Guys Burgers & Fries. Attracting strong investors like S & S reflects continued confidence that Uncle Maddio’s Pizza Joint will continue to rapidly expand across the U.S. The brand recently opened its first Pittsburg, PA area unit and its first in Roger’s, AR, in addition to a Smyrna, GA unit (the Atlanta metro region). The company plans to have at least 300 locations in five years.
