Zaniac Launches 3D Game Design Program for Kids

After-School STEM Enrichment Franchise Teaches Students to Design and Program Custom 3D Video Games

SALT LAKE CITY - June 14, 2016 - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Zaniac, a national STEM education franchise, is encouraging kids to create the video games they love to play with the introduction of its newest STEM course, 3D Game Design, which launches nationwide June 20, 2016.

In 3D Game Design, fourth through eighth grade students will learn to design and program every element of their own game, including game mechanics, three-dimensional animations, character models and more. The 3D Game Design course will also allow students to gain experience using modeling software, Gimp image editing software, the Unity game engine and the C# programming language.

Students who fall in love with 3D Game Design can expand their skills by participating in Zaniac’s Mastery Progression Program. To earn a Certificate of Mastery, students must complete all three 3D courses, including 3D Character Design, 3D Environment Design and C# Fundamentals.

“At Zaniac, one of our core principles is to teach children how to create the technology and games they play with every day and to expose them to skills that will help prepare them for the jobs of tomorrow,” said Sidharth Oberoi, Zaniac President and Chief Academic Officer. “We’re excited to introduce 3D Game Design to our course list to teach children the fundamentals of what goes into the creation of their favorite games.”

The new 3D Game Design course will join the several other Computer Programming courses already offered at Zaniac. The program is a 90-minute class that meets once a week for six weeks, and the five-to-one student to instructor ratio ensures a personalized, peer-based education experience and also meets for five days in a single week during school breaks such as summer vacation and other holidays.

In addition to Computer Programming courses, Zaniac offers a multitude of STEM learning programs that get kids excited to learn math and science while preparing them for 21st century jobs, including Zaniac Robotics: LEGO®, App Creation, 3D Printing, Fashion Design and Game-Based Learning: Minecraft™.

The after-school STEM enrichment franchise currently has corporate campuses open in Salt Lake City and Park City, Utah, in addition to eight franchises in California, Connecticut, Florida, Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina and Texas. The fast-growing franchise plans to reach 50 campuses by 2017.
