STAMFORD, Conn. - June 16, 2016 - (BUSINESS WIRE) - aloft Hotels, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc.’s (NYSE: HOT) innovative hotel brand for today’s hyper-connected global traveler, is now accepting submissions for the seventh annual Project: aloft Star Competition in North America and Latin America, as well as the third installment in Asia Pacific.* Project: aloft Star is a coveted talent search to identify the hottest emerging musical acts from across the globe and offer them a chance to take center stage at the world’s fastest growing hotel brand. This year, multi-platinum selling recording artist Chris Daughtry (“Home,” “It’s Not Over,” “Life After You”), will serve as the program’s mentor in North and Latin America.

Phase I, the Entry Period, starts today and runs through September 5, 2016. Unsigned bands and artists across North America and Latin America are invited to upload up to 2 original songs along with a photo at LiveAtaloftHotels.com. An expert panel of music industry execs and insiders will then comb through the submissions to identify the top five semi-finalists who will advance to Phase II.
Phase II, View & Vote, kicks off September 19 through September 30, 2016 giving fans and music lovers a chance to vote for and choose the two finalists. Phase III will be in October, when the two finalists will be announced and each receive a personal mentoring session with Daughtry. They will each then play an intimate showcase at an aloft Hotel in North America for a panel of judges, including music industry executives David Nathan (SVP Promotion and Artist Development at Big Machine Label Group) and Billy Mann (CEO, Green & Bloom/Topline/Grammy-nominated Songwriter/Producer). Daughtry will then take the stage for an exclusive performance, followed by the announcement of the 2016 Project: aloft Star winner.
As part of the prize package, this year’s two finalists will receive an exclusive mentoring session with American rocker Daughtry. The grand prize winner will receive an additional, exclusive recording session with a top music executive, work with a publicist to craft their artist story and receive media training tips, before jetting off to aloft Hotels across the country to perform as part of the Live at aloft Hotels 2017 Tour.

Today’s divisional announcement marks the beginning of the search for emerging artists residing across North and Latin America.
