Authentic Southern Barbecue Chain Beta Tests New Cocktail Recipes in a Number of its Restaurants Nationwide

September 23, 2016 // Franchising.com // Jacksonville, Florida - Already well-known for its slow-smoked barbecue favorites – like falling off the bone full racks of baby back and spare ribs, Florida-based Woody’s Bar-B-Q plans to add something entirely new to its menu – hand-crafted cocktails. While many of its restaurants throughout the Sunshine State, Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and New York already boast beer and wine selections – some with full bars, the newly debuted drink menu marks the chain’s first attempt to add cocktails as an integral part of its overall brand.

“Beer and barbecue go together like blue jeans and cowboy boots,” said Woody Mills, co-founder of Woody’s Bar-B-Q. “But what we’ve found is that not everyone likes beer, and since the customer experience is number one on our list – we felt it high time to expand our offerings. Although a number of our locations feature a full liquor bar with talented bartenders behind them, we’ve never had our own signature drinks on the menu. We’re excited to beta test them at a handful of our locations, and – depending on their success – will roll them out to the rest of the nation.”

The new Woody’s Bar-B-Q Drink Menu features the following libations for liquor lovers:

  • Woody’s Hard Iced Tea for a Southern twist on the Long Island classic
  • Woody’s Sweet Tea Sangria for a refreshing take on the Spanish favorite
  • Saucy BBQ Bloody Mary to spice up any evening
  • Woody’s Pineapple Upside Down Cake Daiquiri or Pineberry Daiquiri for two sweet spins on the traditional frozen concoction
  • Woody’s Arnold Palmer Slush, which is sure to improve anyone’s game
  • Florida Sunset for a shot that’s best enjoyed when the sun goes down
  • Woody’s BBQ Pit Fire Shooter to warm visitors from the inside out

Along with the new drink menu, Woody’s Bar-B-Q has rolled out a bar menu that features popular nibbles such as Chili Cheese Fries; Loaded Potato Skins; Fried Rings, Squash or Nuggets with a Dipping Sauce of Choice; Fried Pork Rinds; Potachos for a Southern take on traditional nachos; Chicken Tenders; Trio Sliders – Pulled Pork, Sloppy Woody and/or Chopped Beef Brisket; and one heaping pound of Woody’s Smoked Wings. Prices range from $3.99 to $7.99.

Restaurants currently beta testing the new Drink and Bar Menus include the following Florida locations: Macclenny, Cocoa, Ponte Vedra, Bradenton, Palm Coast and Sebastian, plus Augusta, GA; Huntingdon, PA; Middletown, NY; and the newest franchise location in Fayetteville/Lumberton, NC. About Woody’s Bar-B-Q®

After opening their first Woody’s Bar-B-Q in 1980, partners Woody Mills and Yolanda Mills-Mawman have spent the past three decades setting the “bar” higher for great Southern Bar-B-Q. From the humble beginnings of just one location in Jacksonville, Florida, a shared passion for Bar-B-Q,  and a dog-eared collection of recipes, Mills and Mawman have grown the Woody’s Bar-B-Q brand to locations reaching from the Deep South where Bar-B-Q is king to the Northeast and Western fronts. Perhaps best known for their legendary melt-in-your-mouth slow-smoked Signature Baby Back Ribs, Woody’s has also built quite a following among patrons with their secret recipe Bar-B-Q sauces and meats, as well as their freshly prepared comfort food-inspired side dishes.
