Bruster’s Real Ice Cream Targeting Triad for Expansion with Special Franchise Discount Incentive

PITTSBURGH - September 23, 2016 - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Bruster’s Real Ice Cream, the fast-growing premium frozen treat chain, is kicking off a campaign to recruit new franchisees in the Piedmont Triad. Bruster’s, consistently ranked among America’s favorite ice cream shops, is offering new Triad franchisees 50 percent off its standard fee.

According to Bruster’s CEO Jim Sahene, the idea stems from the public outcry that followed recent news the High Point shop had closed. The High Point location was sold to make way for a new grocery store. “We were amazed that there was so much media coverage and social media buzz,” he said. “People were talking about how much they loved Bruster’s ice cream and how much they already missed us.”

Bruster’s has approximately 200 shops around the country and in South Korea and Guyana. All but two are owned by independent franchisees. For franchise information [http://brusters.com/own-a-brusters/why-brusters/].

“North Carolina is a great area for Bruster’s, and we really would like to come back to High Point, as well as, expand into the other Triad communities,” Sahene added. The brand already has nine shops in the state. They are located in Apex, Cornelius, Durham, Indian Trail, Matthews, Monroe, Mooresville, Raleigh and Wilmington.

Franchisees who sign an agreement by Dec. 31, 2016, to open at least one shop in the Greensboro/Winston-Salem/High Point DMA will save $15,000.

Bruster’s will be publicizing the offer to local economic development organizations. It also will be reaching out to veterans’ groups. “For many years we have offered a 50 percent discount to veterans, and more than 10 percent of our franchisees are vets,” Sahene added. According to the Carolina Population Center at UNC-Chapel Hill, there are more than 700,000 veterans living in the state, with many residing in the Triad. “Whether it's a veteran taking advantage of our military discount or an entrepreneur looking for a new opportunity, this is a great time to join Bruster’s,” Sahene added.

The Triad campaign comes as Bruster’s continues to expand nationwide and buck restaurant industry trends with record sales growth.
