Taco John’s® Launches New Twist On The Traditional Taco

Now the Mexican quick-service restaurant chain is taking the familiar folded and filled tortilla to a new level of tasty creativity with the launch of the Chicken Sopapilla Taco.
“The Chicken Sopapilla Taco is the most original taco we’ve ever offered. We think it will inspire people who aren’t currently our guests to come in and give us a try,” said Billie Jo Waara, Taco John’s® CMO. “Menu innovation is one of our primary areas of focus. The Chicken Sopapilla Taco shows our commitment to being original and standing out from the crowd.”
Taco John’s® is serving the limited time offer until November 27 at all participating locations.
“The Chicken Sopapilla Taco is a warm, flaky sopapilla filled with crunchy chicken, honey habanero sauce and fresh pico de gallo,” says Bob Karisny, Vice President for Menu Strategy and Innovation at Taco John’s®. “The flavor combinations are extraordinary. It was very popular in test markets, especially with Millennial guests. We’re excited to see how the Chicken Sopapilla Taco performs now that it’s available across the country.”
Taco John’s® drive to innovate extends to beverages, too. The debut of the Chicken Sopapilla Taco coincides with the launch of the chain’s fourth premium beverage of the year – the Blood Orange Mist TWST which will be on the menu until November 27. The premium beverage, and a specially designed drink cup, are part of “Trick or Eat” -- a promotion Taco John’s® is running from October 17 to 31. Guests who order the Chicken Sopapilla Taco, Blood Orange Mist TWST or Chicken & Gravy Breakfast Burrito will receive a scratch-off card and a chance to win one of three menu items. Guests will also have the opportunity to scratch and win within the TJ® Rewards app.
