Only 77 entrepreneurs from across the United States out of hundreds of applicants were chosen to be a part of the six-week program. The program was jointly developed by Stanford Graduate School of Business faculty and The Latino Business Action Network (LBAN).
“I am eager to access this rich cluster of learning resources and opportunities, which will ultimately make their way into Happy Tax’s growth initiatives, and further, shared with the Happy Tax community of franchisees, independent contractors and team members,” explains Happy Tax founder and CEO Mario Costanz. “Likewise, I look forward to sharing the innovations in service that Happy Tax already has and is continuing to develop with the members of the Stanford and LBAN communities.”
SLELP3 is designed to help growth companies to continue scaling their businesses. It provides participants with valuable concepts and frameworks, enhanced access to capital, personal mentorship from successful entrepreneurs and investors, and a better understanding of the capital resources necessary to grow their businesses, create jobs, and build a stronger economy.

Shaking up the $19 billion tax preparation industry, Happy Tax’s disruptive model was born out of frustration with unreliable, under-qualified tax preparers with no licensing or certification and as little as five days of tax training. Happy Tax is designed to bridge the gap between the high-quality, pampered and convenient customer service that consumers want, and accurate, reliable and professional tax returns prepared by CPAs with a minimum of 5 years of training and experience. Happy Tax offers franchises to those wanting to earn additional income and build their own business. Utilizing its patent-pending technology and processes, Happy Tax franchisees are able to operate with low overhead and increased flexibility.
LBAN and Stanford University collaborate on programs for Latino Entrepreneurs including the research focused Stanford Latino Entrepreneurship Initiative (SLEI) and the Stanford Latino Entrepreneur Leaders Program (SLELP). LBAN endeavors to make America stronger by empowering Latino entrepreneurs to grow large businesses through entrepreneurship research, education, and networks. LBAN's ultimate goal is to double the number of $100 million and $1 billion Latino owned businesses by 2020.
