Snapology Brings STEAM Learning to Hartford County

October 24, 2016 // Franchising.com // PITTSBURGH, PA – Kids who take part in Snapology classes think they’re just having fun playing with building blocks and other materials that snap together. What kids around Hartford County may not realize is that they’re learning too.

Snapology of Hartford-West owner, Paras Patani has had a life-long passion for technology. After an extensive 20-year career in surgical devices, Patani sought to use his knowledge and inspire children in his community. With own his daughter in mind, Patani was eager to bring Snapology’s STEAM-based education lessons to the children of Hartford County.

“I want to use my background in technology as well as my love for engineering to teach the next generation of innovators,” says Patani. “I can’t wait to see what they’ll develop.”

Snapology of Hartford-West opened early this fall with its first location in Connecticut and company plans call for a total of three locations in the region.

Snapology offers a wide array of interactive, playful-learning activities for children ages 1-14.  These include after-school classes, camps, birthday parties, workshops, scouting events and field trips.  The lessons start simple and become increasingly complex, continuously challenging young minds to explore and create.  Snapology programs utilize LEGO® bricks, motors, electronics, video-game design, animation software, and more.  To engage kids, the programs utilize themes like Minecraft®, Star Wars®, Pokemon®, and others as the framework to learn about gearing, motion, sensors, and programming.  Finally, the classes emphasize collaboration, team-building, and presentation skills.

Snapology’s curriculum is designed to benefit gifted and traditional students, as well as children with special needs, including those with sensory processing and autism spectrum disorders.

“Our approach breaks down robotics and engineering concepts for children based on their age and learning abilities. These programs are based on proven research that finds children’s best learning experiences come from actively designing, creating, interacting and inventing,” says Patani. Also noting that Snapology’s work is about re-defining play and re-imagining learning. “We’re helping children develop the intellectual, emotional, social and creative skills that are of lifelong benefit to them and their communities.”
