Penn Station East Coast Subs Named To Training Magazine Training Top 125 List

November 29, 2016 // Franchising.com // MILFORD, OHIO - Penn Station East Coast Subs, the fast-casual restaurant known for its grilled, made-to-order sub sandwiches, hand-squeezed lemonade and fresh-cut fries, has been named a 2017 Training Top 125 company by Training magazine. This is the first time Penn Station has made the list.

“We are thrilled to be recognized for our training efforts among large corporations like AT&T, Best Buy, CVS Health, Mastercard and more,” said Lance Vaught, vice president of operations for Penn Station. “People are a restaurant’s most valuable asset so we believe training is a vital part of our business. This is a huge accomplishment for Penn Station, and we look forward to continuing to improve on our training programs.”

The annual Training Top 125 list ranks companies by excellence in employer-sponsored training and development programs. It is based on total training budget; percentage of payroll; number of training hours per employee program; goals, evaluation, measurement and workplace surveys; hours of training per employee annually; and detailed formal programs. Training magazine also reviews the financial investment in employee development, the scope of development programs and how closely development efforts are linked to business goals and objectives.

Penn Station has launched several new training initiatives in the last two years, including My Penn Path, a training and career path program designed to help employees move from entry-level crew member to crew leader, assistant manager and even general manager. Penn Station has also incorporated training videos, quizzes and modules into its proprietary POS system.

“This is well deserved by our training department,” said Craig Dunaway, president of Penn Station. “Even though Penn Station is a small to mid-sized franchise, we’re proving that we’re a brand to be contended with through awards like the Training Top 125, 2016 QSR Best Franchise Deals, Forbes 2016 Best Franchises to Buy and best sandwich chain in the 2015 Nation’s Restaurant News Consumer Picks survey.”
