Rising Baby Boomer Population Fuels Growth for Caring Transitions

Senior Relocation, Estate Sales, and Downsizing Franchise Prepares for the Next Decade of Growth

February 21, 2017 // Franchising.com // Cincinnati, Ohio - When it comes time to move your parents out of the family home to downsize to a more fitting space, the moving to-do list can be daunting – ranging from hiring painters to packing up memorable possessions to auctioning off old furniture. One national franchise, Caring Transitions, has taken the worry out of senior relocation for the past 10 years, and is showing no signs of slowing down. Caring Transitions has seen the rise in the Baby Boomer generation fuel the growth of the brand. There are over 100 million Baby Boomers currently residing in the U.S., and over one in three households is expected to be headed by someone age 65 or older by the year 2035. With the end of the recession and the economic uptick prompting a migrating senior population, seniors are moving to be closer to family or searching for a more suitable climate. This increasing trend continues to spark the need for Caring Transitions services, and sets the company on a steady trajectory of growth.

Caring Transitions began in 2006 as a spinoff of Home Helpers, a former sister company. Caring Transitions immediately saw success, finding that people going through a life transition were concerned for managing their belongings with detailed care. Now, with over 200 locations, Caring Transitions is the leader in senior relocation. The company specializes in organizing, packing, de-cluttering, moving and resettling, as well as handling estate sales, liquidations, and preparing homes for market. Caring Transitions’ success over the past decade is reflected through the company’s first franchisee, Bruce Treadway, who is still a major part of the brand.

Treadway has been involved in estate sales since the young age of four years old, when his grandma would bring him along to various estate sales she held. As he grew older, he continued the family tradition by conducting his own estate sales on the side of his corporate job. When discovering Caring Transitions, Treadway noticed how the brand filled a missing link in the market, and was able to bring his life-long expertise to the brand as the company’s first franchisee.

“I’ve seen so many franchisees dramatically over estimate what can be accomplished in one year, and so many underestimate what can be accomplished in 10 years,” said Treadway. “I’m honored to be the first franchisee of Caring Transitions, and to have seen all the company has accomplished over the past decade.”

To continue their development, the brand is focused on staying up-to-date on the latest technological advances. Among these advances, Caring Transitions will be launching an updated version of its current online auction site. The new platform is planned to launch this spring with new features and an improved user experience platform for its customers.

“Seeing the hard work and dedication of our employees and franchisees to grow our company over the past 10 years has been truly inspiring,” said Chris Seman, President of Caring Transitions. “The senior population is booming, creating an increasingly high demand for our services. Caring Transitions is in a category all to itself, and will continue to lead the way for senior relocation services and liquidation.”

Already this year, Caring Transitions was named as No. 46 on the 2017 Franchise Gator Fastest Growing Franchises list and was named on Entrepreneur’s annual Franchise 500 list.

Caring Transitions is currently seeking qualified franchisees that possess high business acumen along with excellent person-centered skills, specifically in regards to working with the elderly community. The total initial investment for the franchise is between $58,112 and $85,812.
