Award-winning Owner Acquires Orangetheory Fitness Shelton Studio Amidst Accelerated Connecticut Growth

Multi-Unit Franchisee Mark Molina Propels Company’s Plans to Double the State’s Studio Count in 2017

May 08, 2017 // // BOCA RATON, Fla. - Orangetheory® Fitness, the scientifically backed and fast-growing fitness franchise, announced today multi-unit franchisee Mark Molina has acquired rights to the Shelton, Connecticut studio, which will grand reopen under his leadership at the end of May. This acquisition is part of Orangetheory Fitness’s expansion plans to grow the brand’s presence throughout the state of Connecticut, with a goal of doubling the company’s studio count in the state by the end of 2017.

Molina successfully opened Connecticut’s first Orangetheory Fitness studio in Fairfield in 2014. Since then, he has continued to expand the brand in the state, opening a second studio in Norwalk in 2016; his third studio is slated to open in Westport later this month. The Shelton studio, which is located at 704 Bridgeport Ave., will mark the fourth location for Molina throughout the state.

In 2015, just months after opening his first studio, Molina’s Fairfield location was awarded the highly coveted award for “Best Fitness Studio” on Connecticut’s Gold Coast (Fairfield County), a testament to his business leadership and the popularity of Orangetheory Fitness workouts. In 2016, the studio was a repeat winner for “Best Fitness Studio” in Fairfield, and Molina said he fully expects to win the prestigious Gold Coast award again in 2017. Before investing in Orangetheory Fitness, Molina was a top-tier corporate and business lawyer, working principally as the chief legal officer for a number of private and publically traded high-tech companies around the country. After learning about Orangetheory Fitness through a friend, Molina tried the workout and was hooked. He looked into franchising opportunities and was drawn to the company’s product and business model, as well as the integrity, support and quality control provided to franchisees by the corporate team.
