TGA Premier Tennis Adds Third Franchise in Seattle, WA

Youth tennis delivery system continues expansion throughout the Pacific Northwest

August 24, 2017 // Franchising.com // Seattle, WA - When former financial executive, Brad Kirkpatrick, left that industry to launch his first TGA Premier Tennis franchise in 2012, he knew the innovative grassroots model that is planting the seeds for the future and sweeping the nation would be very successful in the Seattle market.

“The TGA model has facilitated tremendous growth for introductory tennis programs in our five years of existence in Seattle,” said Kirkpatrick. “Expanding the business to South Snohomish County was a logical next step for me, and bringing on a partner who has been successful in other businesses while having a passion for tennis allows me to accelerate our growth strategy.”

Joining Kirkpatrick on his latest youth tennis expansion is Tom Spear, a successful Industrial Marine business owner, who was looking for another opportunity that could impact youth including his own children. Together they are launching new TGA tennis programs in South Snohomish County, which covers the communities of Bothell, Kirkland, Kenmore, Mill Creek, Mountlake Terrace, Edmonds, Shoreline, and Lynnwood. School districts now impacted include the previously unserved portions of Lake Washington, the entirety of the Shoreline, Edmonds, and North Shore districts, and parts of the Mukilteo and Everett School Districts.

“Tennis is a sport of a lifetime and can have a tremendous impact on a youngster’s life, as well as create a healthier lifestyle,” explained Spear. “To be able to provide that kind of opportunity for the community and grow the sport is very gratifying, and to be able to partner with Brad allows me to hit the ground running and grow the programs that much faster.”

TGA has become a leading introductory and recreational program in the tennis industry already activating over 70,000 new tennis players across the country. This includes over 80 programs in Seattle communities impacting over 1,200 juniors to date with more than 145 schools anticipated to be added and activating over 5,000 youth by 2020.

The TGA impact is at several levels. First, by bringing introductory tennis programs directly into schools and community centers through before- or after-school enrichment programs, it is putting tennis on a level playing field with other mainstream sports and youth activities. Second, TGA creates a pathway for students and families from the school and community programs to recreational programs at tennis facilities that include camps, Play Day Series, as well as USTA Junior Team Tennis and Junior Tournaments.

TGA provides all of the equipment for kids at no cost in the program, including its own line of custom tennis equipment to provide all players an affordable option to get into the sport. The program can also be utilized anywhere on school campuses regardless of weather, including gymnasiums, hallways, cafeterias, fields and blacktops.

Families and schools have embraced the model and its programs because it creates a healthier and safer environment for students at schools and community centers. The school-based curriculum includes tennis skill progression, education subjects and STEM/STEAM Labs, in addition to physical fitness and health components.
