My Best Client Experience: Franchisee Finds Ways To Give Back To The Community With The Dentist’s Choice

February 14, 2018 // Franchising.com //

Name: Tony Davis

Launched His Dentist’s Choice Franchise: March 2000

Service Area: Southern Indiana and Northern Kentucky

Tony Davis worked at a steel company for five years before becoming a Dentist’s Choice franchisee. He wanted to continue doing valuable, hands-on work while enjoying the autonomy of being his own boss. After researching different franchise opportunities, Tony decided The Dentist’s Choice was the perfect fit. Tony and his wife Teresa opened up their Dentist’s Choice and have been enjoying the benefits of business ownership for over 15 years. In addition to serving clients, they have found ways to help out dentists doing non-profit work as well.

Question & Answer

DC: Describe your most memorable customer experience.

Tony: There are several client experiences that stand out to me, but one of my favorite things to do is to help dentists with their nonprofit or missionary work. I offer free handpiece repairs to dentists who work with Doctors without Borders, or who do their own, independent mission work. Recently, I did 20 to 30 free repairs for Doctors without Borders. I really enjoy being able to give back to the community, and help dentists continue doing their valuable work.

DC: What made this experience stand out?

Tony: I really value the opportunity to give back, and I think what really made the experience stand out is just how easy it can be to do so. Being able to assist dentists doing nonprofit work whenever I can is one of my favorite parts of owning my business. I always go out of my way to let them know that I am more than willing to help them out whenever I can.

DC: What key takeaway did you have from this experience?

Tony: I think one of the most important parts of business ownership is one’s commitment and responsibility to give back to the community. I enjoy how I have been able to do this in different areas of my work, especially in helping dentists with their own philanthropic ventures. When I retire, I’m hoping to get more involved with other nonprofit work, but I am happy I am able to help where I can right now. Recently, I was out doing a service call when a young man came up to me, said he was hungry and asked for some food. So, I told him to sit tight while I did the service call. When I came out, he was still outside waiting, so I took him to the grocery store and bought him whatever he wanted. Just finding little opportunities like that can make such a big difference to people.
