From Pittsburgh to Seattle: Veteran Kumon Math and Reading Instructor Opens Woodinville’s First Kumon Franchise after Moving across the Country

Kumon Math and Reading Center of Woodinville-Downtown Now Taking Enrollments

March 05, 2018 // Franchising.com // WOODINVILLE, Wash. - Vrushali Chandwaskar was a Kumon Instructor in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for six years before her husband’s job moved them across the country to Seattle, Washington. Faced with the decision with what to do with her own career, she decided to find a buyer for her center in Pittsburgh and started the process of opening Kumon Math and Reading Center of Woodinville-Downtown.

“I whole heartedly believe in the Kumon Method and have seen first-hand how it positively impacts the lives of youth,” said Chandwaskar, owner and instructor of Kumon Math and Reading Center of Woodinville-Downtown. “Six years ago, I initially chose Kumon because I believed in the curriculum and the invaluable work skills that children develop through the process. That is why I knew I wanted to open a center in our new community of Woodinville.”

The Kumon Method empowers preschool to high school aged children to become self-learners and is designed to advance math and reading skills while fostering a love for learning. It goes beyond traditional tutoring by actively developing critical thinking skills as children progress independently through a carefully crafted curriculum.

Kumon’s Presence in Greater Seattle

  • 7,457 subject enrollments at 32 centers
  • 25 percent increase in subject enrollments in last five years

“The fact that Vrushali decided to go through the process of selling her center in Pittsburgh and opening a new center in Woodinville is a testament to the impact that the Kumon Method makes on children across the country,” said Larry Lambert, vice president of franchise recruitment at Kumon North America. “We look forward to providing even more children in Greater Seattle with the opportunity to achieve their maximum potential.”

Kumon sparks critical thinking, establishes a pattern of success and builds confidence that can lead to accelerated learning throughout life. Learn more about the Kumon franchise opportunity today: https://www.kumonfranchise.com/.
