Delta Disaster Services Details U.S. Expansion Plans

Franchise Restoration Concept Striving to Reach National Scale in Five Years, Aided by Parent Company HRI’s Experience and Proven Growth Strategies

June 07, 2018 // Franchising.com // DENVER – Delta Disaster Services, a nationally recognized and award-winning franchise brand providing restoration services to commercial and residential properties, is significantly expanding its U.S. presence through an aggressive franchising plan that aims to add 300 franchise licenses in the next few years. Today’s announcement comes on the heels of a transformative few months for Delta Disaster Services and the recent signing of two new franchisees.

In March, HRI Holdings, Inc. (HRI), parent company to the Chem-Dry® Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning and N-Hance® Wood Refinishing franchise businesses, acquired Delta Disaster Services. HRI will help in its growth by drawing on the parent company’s size and sector experience and leveraging its vendor relationships and economies of scale. HRI also brings the ability to add new resources to bolster the Delta Disaster Services franchise support team and make strategic investments such as their current plans to build a new, state-of-the-art flood house near the company’s operation and corporate office in Denver.

Further, Delta Disaster Services will benefit from HRI’s proven ability to scale concepts. It has grown Chem-Dry, which celebrated its 40th anniversary last year, into a global 3,000-unit network operating in over 55 countries. N-Hance, the pioneering wood refinishing franchise that the company started in 2003, recently surpassed 500 units and has more than doubled in the past five years. With only an estimated four percent of all franchise businesses reaching the 500-unit threshold, the franchisor has shown its ability to grow dominant brands in the home and commercial services arena. Delta Disaster Services plans to grow by 30 units in 2018 and more than 70 units in 2019.

“We’ve proven our ability to scale franchise businesses both nationally and internationally, and the residential and commercial services industry is our sweet spot,” said Dan Tarantin, president and CEO of HRI. “HRI has the experience, resources, and proven systems and processes to drive a successful large-scale national expansion of the Delta Disaster Services brand. When you combine that with the strong foundation and franchise model that the Delta Disaster Services team has built, we’re confident we can grow the brand to become a national force within property restoration.”

Through HRI’s acquisition, Delta Disaster Services is able to market its franchise opportunity to the 1,100 existing Chem-Dry and N-Hance franchisees in the United States and Canada. Especially for Chem-Dry franchisees, Delta Disaster Services is a logical addition to their portfolio of services, as many already offer some restoration services and an established brand with strong training, support and relationships would significantly improve their competitiveness locally. As of early June, three Delta Disaster Services franchises have been purchased by Chem-Dry franchisees, which is within 30 days of franchises being available under the new ownership – a testament to the initial interest in the opportunity within the HRI network.

“The Delta Disaster Services franchise model is appealing to entrepreneurs for several reasons, including the fact that our industry is nearly recession-proof,” said Mike Mastous, founder and president of Delta Disaster Services. “We maintain strong relationships with insurance companies and third party administrators that not only helps existing franchisees but will also greatly benefit new buyers. One of our biggest competitive advantages is our market-leading, integrated communications and job management platform that allows for seamless real-time communication and improved cash-flow management. Finally, the education process and training we provide and require for all franchisees is second-to-none and puts our professionals in the top one percent of restoration companies nationally.”

Delta Disaster Services, which began franchising in 2010, is marketing its franchise opportunity to qualified investors across the United States. Currently, Delta Disaster Services has operations in sixteen markets, including its corporately run territory in Denver. Franchise units operate in Northern, Southern and Western Colorado, as well as Salt Lake City, Northern Los Angeles and in the Gulf Coast areas of Northwest Florida, Southern Mississippi and Alabama.

In addition to interest from the franchising community, Delta Disaster Services has earned several prized designations, including recognition by Inc. Magazine as one of the “500 Fastest Growing Companies” in the country, Qualified Remodeler as a “Top 500 Remodeler” nine years in a row, and Colorado Governor’s “Company to Watch” list.
