Valpak® Honored by Susan G. Komen® for Making Impact in Fight Against Breast Cancer

Direct-Mail Company Raises 230,000+ For Susan G. Komen®; Recognizes 25 Everyday Heroes in The Fight For A Cure

December 20, 2018 // Franchising.com // ST. PETERSBURG, FL - Valpak, one of North America's leading direct marketing companies, was honored at Susan G. Komen®’s Partner Summit this year with the prestigious REACH Award. The company is being recognized for successfully recruiting and engaging new activists for the cure through multiple mediums. The two companies recently collaborated with KitchenAid® and renowned television chef and breast cancer survivor Sandra Lee to turn Valpak’s iconic blue envelopes pink in support of the 1 in 8 women in the U.S. who will develop breast cancer at some point in her lifetime and the countless loved ones affected by the disease. As a result, the campaign raised a total of 232,000 to be donated to Susan G. Komen®.

Over the past several months, Valpak’s nationwide salesforce of over 600 hit the streets to encourage local advertisers across the U.S. to join the fight against breast cancer by making donations in exchange for being recognized as a local ally online and in the Valpak envelope with a special pink-bordered ad. Sales Consultants reached over 3,700 advertisers and raised over $177,000. Rounding out the total was a $55,000 donation from Valpak corporate to Komen.

Mike Davis, Valpak CEO & President stated, "speaking for the whole Valpak family, it was a true privilege working with Paula Schneider, Christina Alford and the entire team at SGK on raising awareness, through our 37 million household distribution, and donations through our generous client partners.”

Throughout the month of October, Valpak also invited consumers to nominate a hero who has taken action in the fight against breast cancer. As a result, consumers submitted over 4,000 very personal and inspiring stories illustrating the strength and fortitude of the individuals, families and friends who’ve been impacted by breast cancer.Valpak chose 25 lucky winners to receive a set of pink KitchenAid appliances in support of Cook for the Cure®. The set includes a stand mixer, blender, 2-speed hand blender and a 5-speed hand mixer with a total retail value of over $800.

One story states "My mom, Cheryl, is a More Than Pink Hero. She was diagnosed with breast cancer 4 years ago, but she never allowed it to stop her. She completed a Masters in Nursing the same year of her diagnosis, and she walked in the Komen Race for the Cure here in Columbus, Ohio. She supports breast cancer research through her racing, and she continues to teach nursing clinicals in Florida. She is a true inspiration, as courage and perseverance can truly conquer cancer.”
