Creamistry Set to Freeze in Newnan

Liquid nitrogen ice cream announces second Georgia location

March 08, 2019 // Franchising.com // IRVINE, Cali. - Creamistry - the California-based chain that specializes in made-to-order liquid nitrogen ice cream using all-natural and organic ingredients with more than 60 flavors and toppings - has announced the upcoming opening of a new location in Newnan.

Slated to open later this year, the new ice cream shop will be a franchisee-owned location. The development of the Newnan location comes just one year after the first Georgia location debuted in Buford. As part of the brand’s national expansion efforts, company plans call for the development of 4 franchise-owned locations throughout the Greater Atlanta area and the state of Georgia over the next several years. Additional markets eyed for expansion include: Florida, Kansas, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee.

“We have seen great success with our first Georgia location in Buford,” said Jay Yim, Founder and CEO of Creamistry. “The company’s entrance into Georgia a great place to continue our growth as a franchise, and we are confident that the Newnan community will embrace the Creamistry experience.”

Here’s how Creamistry works: Customers choose a portion size, then an ice cream base (premium, organic, vegan coconut, or non-dairy sorbet), one of 30+ flavors, and then toppings from a list of 35+ options that include candy, cookies and cereal, fruits, and sauces. The ice cream is made right before the customer with a lot of billowing smoke thanks to the flash-freezing process. When the liquid nitrogen (-321° F) hits the base it freezes so fast that ice crystals don't have a chance to develop, resulting in a decadently rich and luxuriously creamy ice cream with virtually no overrun.

“Ice cream is quintessential to American culture,” said Yim. “Our liquid nitrogen concept gives customers a smoke show while allowing endless combinations with our 60+ flavors and toppings. Creamistry provides a different novelty to the dessert scene, and our consistent innovation of new flavor combinations are reasons for our popularity. Atlanta and the greater surrounding communities are fast-growing food scenes that we are excited to become a part of. As we continue planning our next growth phase, we look forward to finding more enthusiastic and passionate partners to further Creamistry’s expansions.”

Yim was first introduced to the concept of liquid nitrogen ice cream on the streets of South Korea in 2003. Born into a family of Korean bakers, Yim and his wife, Katie, made their first batch of homemade ice cream using liquid nitrogen with the help of his father as the quality control “chemist.” Over the next two years, the team experimented with over a hundred flavors and combinations, the best of which eventually became an integral part of Creamistry’s menu today.

To augment the company’s growth, Yim is looking for franchisee partners who have a passion for customer service and have strong business acumen. Including a franchise fee of $40,000, the initial investment to open a Creamistry franchise is $224,500-$576,500. The franchise fee for a second store is $30,000 and $20,000 for subsequent stores. The average store is about 1,000-1,500 square feet, seats 20-40 customers and employs approximately 20 full- and part-time people.
