Former Veteran Becomes Archadeck Franchisee Of The Year

Kyle Faulkner, Archadeck of Raleigh-Durham franchisee, becomes the 2019 Archadeck Franchisee of the Year Award at its annual convention in Tampa, FL.

RICHMOND, VA. (PRWEB) March 21, 2019 - After contemplating a suggestion by his father-in-law to consider purchasing a company, Kyle Faulkner, Archadeck franchisee of Raleigh-Durham and The Greater Triangle, acquired the franchise in 2013. Faulkner learned that the existing owner of Archadeck of Raleigh-Durham had decided to retire and was in the process of selling his business.

Archadeck, owned and operated by Outdoor Living Brands, is a franchise that designs and builds custom outdoor living spaces such as decks, patios, screen porches, sunrooms, outdoor kitchens and outdoor fireplaces in the United States and Canada.

Once Faulkner licensed the Archadeck franchise and completed the initial training program, he hit the ground running. In fact, Faulkner and his wife, Paige, were already moving at a fast pace leading up to starting their Archadeck business.

The Faulkner’s encountered a lot of change in 2013. They got married in February and moved from San Diego to Raleigh in April. Paige found out she was expecting their first baby in July and they bought a house and started a business that Fall.

Not long after acquiring his Archadeck franchise, Faulkner had the opportunity to license the rest of the territory in the Raleigh area. In 2014, Faulkner invested in the additional territory and now with these combined territories, his operation covers a large portion of the Research Triangle area including Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill and west to Greensboro.

Operating a franchise was new to Faulkner. His previous career had been with the military. Faulkner is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps having joined the Marines when he was seventeen years old. He served in the Marines for eight years including tours in Iraq and Afghanistan before transitioning out of the military.

Faulkner indicated that serving in the military prepared him for small business ownership and for operating an Archadeck franchise. “I received the greatest education in leadership from the military,” says Faulkner. In addition to leadership skills, Faulkner believes various skills learned in the military parlay well into operating his Archadeck franchise. He thinks that the franchise industry is a good one for veterans. He sees a parallel in that both franchising and the military provide a strong foundation while supplying a plan to follow and execute.

Being a successful Archadeck franchisee requires hard work, dedication, engagement, involvement, time and effort. Faulkner emphasizes the importance of teamwork and stresses that everyone on the team has a role. Furthermore, he stated, “all the roles are important with their own specific purpose and everyone works together towards the same goal.” Faulkner’s approach to his business and his plan for success work as evidenced by his recent recognition as Franchisee of the Year for 2018.

Faulkner expands on this principle of teamwork as it relates to Archadeck overall. He acknowledges and appreciates the working relationship between Archadeck and the franchisor, Outdoor Living Brands. Faulkner feels that a mutually beneficial relationship exists and that people at all levels of the organization value each other.
