TGA Invests in Youth Sports Franchise Infrastructure, Marches Toward One-Millionth Enrollment

LOS ANGELES - (BUSINESS WIRE) - March 27, 2019 - At a time when many kids are eschewing sports participation for screen time, TGA Premier Sports (TGA) - one of the country's most innovative introductory youth sports programs - reports sustained growth across its various in-school and after-school enrichment platforms. Driven by a groundbreaking PhD-developed curriculum and the passion of its 120-plus franchise owners, TGA is on target to register its ONE-MILLIONTH student by 2020.

Dissatisfied with youth sports initiatives that simply threw a ball into a circle of kids so alpha athletes could compete and others would lose interest, entrepreneur Joshua Jacobs launched TGA in 2003 with a dynamic vision. With a curriculum aligned with the American Development Model (ADM) framework created by the U.S. Olympic Committee, TGA allows school-aged children to progress through different levels of sports development while sharpening academics, life lessons, physical fitness, rules and etiquette.

The program’s differentiator is the multi-level station-based curriculum and how students participate in interactive STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) Labs that allow them to relate concepts such as gravity, aerodynamics and simple machines through sports. TGA’s eight sports platforms include Golf, Tennis and Team Sports (Cheerleading, Flag Football, Floor Hockey, Lacrosse, Ultimate, and Volleyball).

“Keeping kids engaged as they gain confidence and skills in sports is an empowering process,” said Jacobs, TGA’s founder and CEO. “For kids ages five through 13, TGA always has a next level to advance and grow from, so sports participation combined with academics becomes that catalyst for achievement in all phases of their lives.”

Recently, TGA completed a $750,000 curriculum and business infrastructure investment to streamline operations across its eight sports platforms. The investment facilitates franchise growth and lays the foundation for future expansion, including 50-75 new franchises and increasing the number of programs from 7,200 to 15,000 by 2021. TGA currently has 124 franchises in 74 markets across 27 states. This includes new franchises in Long Beach, CA, Cleveland, OH, and Raleigh, NC.

“This buildout was critical to servicing our families, providing the best experience for our students and helping our existing franchises grow more efficiently,” said Jacobs. “After three years, we’ve created a higher value proposition for potential and current franchise owners, our schools and facility partners and our customers.”
